I’ve got the hottest bumper sticker in town: DON’T BLAME ME - I VOTED FOR MUFFY.

Oh sure, I could have waited until January when Deval Patrick becomes governor. You know, at least give the guy a chance to do the right thing. But why wait? Especially when they make such perfect stocking stuffers, just in time for Christmas, or as Deval and his PC crew would say, the holidays.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the ability of Massachusetts politicians to screw up. When betting the over-under on how many days it will take a local pol to step in it, take the under.

Deval is always talking about doing his “homework,” but apparently he cut class the day they were teaching the Three Rules of Life at the State House: No. 1, nothing on the level; No. 2, everything is a deal; No. 3, no deal too small.

They’re already eating Deval for breakfast, and lunch and dinner. And then they hand him the tab. The beautiful thing for the hacks is, as long as Deval remains the center of attention, they can operate the way they prefer to.

See, the legislators have the same MO as a raccoon. You never see them in daylight unless they’ve gone rabid.

The solons love all those headlines about Massport greedhead Leslie Kirwan and her “sick days” and her shameless contributions to whoever’s ahead in the polls. As long as the press is focused on Deval’s new Administration and Financesecretary, that means they won’t be looking into, say, exactly how many relatives of Sen. Therese Murray have migrated onto public payrolls.

Memo to Deval: Tommy O’Neill is not your friend. Neither is Jim Aloisi, nor Billy Bulger, nor Arline Isaacson. The MTA wasn’t investing in you, they were buying you.

This whole rancid crew, elected and unelected alike, has prospered mightily for the past 10 years or so in a dysfunctional political culture where all the important decisions are made by lifers who, when you get right down to it, have fewer than 10,000 constituents.

Now Deval’s people talk about pressuring the Legislature, setting up some kind of Internet red-alert system for moonbats, so that whenever a solon wanders off the reservation, the rep will get 500 e-mails from rich pony-tailed pukes in his distict.

Threatening the General Court - how’d that work out for Mitt Romney? To enforce your will, Deval, you would have to be able to knock off a few of these bums, and that requires an electorate that’s bright enough to make rational decisions. Given that they just elected you, how would you rate their ability to handle sharp objects safely, let alone vote their own enlightened self-interest?

I can’t wait to see Deval start cutting deals with the Governor’s Council. Neither can Benjamin LaGuer, for that matter.

Odds are, by March we’ll have some vicious thug at the State House on a Wednesday afternoon in front of the TV cameras, waving around his get-out-of-jail-free card, accusing The Man of framing him as the grief-stricken survivors of his victims weep.

Let the moonbats e-mail - the Governor’s Council will vote down the early release of Deval’s first Tookie (Williams, not Amirault) du jour. At least until they can work out one of those quid pro quos Deval claims he doesn’t do - you know, one rapist for Deval, one judge for the hacks. One murderer for Deval, one clerk-magistrate for them.

I showed my new DON’T BLAME ME - I VOTED FOR MUFFY bumper stickers to a state legislator last week. After grabbing a couple, the guy said, You know, he could surprise everybody.

Or I could have to order another 1,000 of these by Valentine’s Day.

Not true, Healey contributed to her own defeat by not cutting Deval off at his knees when the fight started. Instead she went after the "orange man"

I am becoming more and more ashamed to call Massachusetts my home state. What's worse, even if we wanted to, we could never afford to move back. Thank God we don't want to. We are trying to get back to NC next duty station, then we may change our home of record to there. It's not like our Republican vote counts in MA anyway. And it's pretty sad when you are ashamed to admit where you are from. I love Boston as a city, but the inmates are running the asylum at this point.

Since we're into the Christmas season:
I've been a DJ at a college station in Mass. (WMWM Salem) for 25 years (!) and I currently do an occasional blues show there. This time of year I mix in some Christmas novelty stuff--last week I was on and played Freberg's "Green Chri$tma$" and
"Christmas Dragnet"...and here are some other interesting thing my station has had that I've played

THE ROVERS 45, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" b/w
"Merry Bloody X-Mas". Put out by Toronto's Attic records
in the early 80s, and sadly my station's copy seems to be gone (wasn't there when I checked last yr!). The A-side
of course is the Elmo and Patsy tune though I think I like
this version better, while the flip is another country tune: "Merry X-mas to me/My dog threw up all
over the X-mas tree/They repossessed/Me color TV/
Oh, Merry Bloody Xmas to me"

That group of course did The Unicorn as The Irish Rovers
then dropped the middle part of their name and had a hit with Wasn't That A Party

was put together by Eddie Gorodetsky who is a comedy
writer and once worked for WBCN in Boston--West worked
for WBCN; later for Howard Stern, and does the voice
of Fry in Futurama)

This CD also has "Donde Esta Santa Claus" a nice tune
in which a Hispanic boy sings (and one of Santa's
reindeer is Pancho). This is the song that Cheech
Marin is attempting to sing at the start of Cheech
and Chong's "Santa and his old lady"
