The Left possesses a stubborn resistance to experience that conflicts with their predisposition.

The Right, too, had a very brief window for proper change. I think the reason we dropped the ball is because we assumed that 9-11 would snap the Left back into reality. We thought that democrats would actually support border enforcement and sensible terrorist profiling.
If we lose 10 cities tomorrow, it will do nothing to awaken the Left. It was a mistake to ever think it could.

What absolutely drives me crazy is the left does everything possible to drag this country down and the right prevents it and in the process saves their sorry butts
If only we could let them somehow let them self destruct without taking us with them

The Kurds see the writing on the wall. They will now move inexorably toward securing Kirkuk permanently and the fighting will spread north. Murphy's law Mr. Baker.

Hmmm. While true, the Republicans seem to view the WOT as a minor distraction to be dealt with while completing the North American Union.

The whole plan of the left is to self-destruct and take us with them. That is EXACTLY what they are trying to do. They are sick. Sick, evil people.

Hegemonist doctrine has no place in it for phenomena like Al-Quaeda and the Jihadists. There is no way to fit them into the theory, because to acknowledge that a tangible, undeniable threat exists is to negate every other element of the thesis. So they are ignored. No solution is offered, no suggestions are made. They are simply pushed aside as irrelevant. The doctrine that underlies all opposition to American policies in the War on Terror has absolutely nothing to say about the forces that triggered the war, forces that have already attacked two American cities and have promised to return. This is a great column.
There are two prongs to the Left's attacks. First, to promote communism. Second, to destroy America. Even if the USSR isn't there any more, there are still proponents of communism everywhere. And even if that were not true, they would still try to destroy America because they hate it, everything it stands for.
They imagine that the world be so much better if America did not exist. The author is right in that the Islamic terrorists do not fit into the Left's theory, so they ignore the terrorists. The Left has never let reality interfere with their theory about how society should work.

"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam (post 9/11). Even Islamic terrorists dont hate America like liberals do. They dont have that much energy. If they had that much energy, theyd have indoor plumbing by now." Ann Coulter
And she's right. But I would add that liberals also hate America because Christians are in it and Christians are judgmental about sexual immorality.

And that's yet another reason why it's going to be a long, long war.On the other hand, if the right (50% of Americans) convert to Islam next year, the enemy within gets eliminated quickly, or becomes our dhimmis and slaves. United we stand. /sarcasm

The author is right in that the Islamic terrorists do not fit into the Left's theory, so they ignore the terrorists. Your points are well made, but to take the next step, the Left doesn't ignore jihadists so much as it accuses the US of creating them. Islamic terrorism fits into their anti-American theory insofar as they claim such terrorism is a product of American "hegemony". In that sick respect, the Left acknowledges terrorism, but only to further bash their true object of hatred, America.

The Left has never let reality interfere with their theory about how society should work. I dunno. I think the Left admires the absolute control that Mullah's have over their adherents. After all, if they can persuade someone to become a suicide bomber, persuading them to pay higher taxes should be a piece of cake. They think they can ride the tiger, and the tiger will let them for a while, and eat them last (save 'em for dessert).

Great article. If the Republicans had someone in power who was articulate enough to tell it like it is (like Reagan) then history might have been different.

They will now move inexorably toward securing Kirkuk That has been job one for the Kurds since Saddam fell. There is a danger as it all falls apart, that the Sunnis will cede the Shia area, and move on the Kurds for oil, with the support of Turkey. I wish I knew more about the interplay of Iraq Kurd and Turkish relations at this point. Have the Iraq Kurds managed to buy the hatchet? That really needs to be their job one at this point. I need an update.
