Naw -- the Icelanders came straight from Iceland to Seattle. The Germans came from Russia, along the Volga River, to Kansas. And your Icelanders were in the Ukraine?? I probably just have this tangled at this point...

Yep, we're Ukraine, move to Iceland, then settled in Canada. All about the time just prior to the 1905 revolutionary war in Russia. There's a huge population of Ukrainians just northwest of Winnipeg. My family ended up in Minnesota during the depression. Now, we're in Wisconsin.
