When Japan tried, they started out with a suprise attack that killed 2500 Americans. The American President went onto the floor of Congress and asked for and got a Declaration of War. Taxes were hiked tremendously, and the draft was used to build a massive military machine. Japanese men, women, children, old and young were mass-murdered in their cities by airpower, and unconditional surrender was the only thing on anybody's mind.

When he did, he did not go onto the floor of Congress and demand a declaration of war. There was no massive tax hike to pay for a massive military buildup. There was not even talk of a draft. Enemy civilans were not killed from the air en masse, not even in rebellious cities like Fallujah.
Japan attacked America, and America went to war, unconditionally, with every resource, and fought to the death.
Islam attacked America, and America remained at peace, sending out forces, half of them reserves - which have not been massively expanded - to fight a minimalist police action.
Now American political resolve has collapsed.
Our enemies aren't going to heed any stern warning. They already did worse than Pearl Harbor to us, and instead of going to war, we chose to lose a police action.

Has American political resolve collapsed? Not completely, at least not yet. Let's not jump to conclusions about the significance of the "Iran Surrender Group" report. The MSM may be gloating, but they could be overplaying their hand, as they have often done before.
Let's hope it won't take another terrorist attack on US soil to reinforce our resolve.
