I've heard that in the Korean military a beating often occurs in cases where in America there would only be yelling. I hadn't heard about the shooting part.
This was at Khe Sahn at the height of Lam Sahn 719,they said we were
surrounded by 3 or 4 NVA Divisions, this may have had some influnce on
that drastic action. I`d see those M-48 tanks being hauled in all the time
with the top half of the tank flapping after being hit with those damn RPG`s
Earlier that same night we were popping off those great big flares,I mean
flares that would light up a 100 acre field.Guy in the next bunked fired
off a Claymore while I was sleeping.The whole line opened up,wild night,that
was when I learned to keep away from tanks. They draw fire, and when hit
with small arms fire there`s ricochets everywhere.
Anyway next AM everyone was talking about that sleeping ROK soldier
getting mustered out, I remember it was our Lt. that told the story first.
