That's because of the flood and cold that will attack the area as a result of global warming just like in "The Day After Tomorrow". I saw it in a movie, so it must be true.
Go after insurance fraud--
Well, imagine if they had another Hurricane Gloria.
Is there some reason that people don't realize the risks they take living in various places on this planet?
I mean, up here in "Da Nort" we can have F5 tornadoes and then blizzards and ice storms that can stop time for weeks on end. And of course it's not unusual for some dope to set his house on fire in the dead of winter (30 below, fire hydrants all frozen, etc.) with a space heater.
American Family Insurance dropped us a number of years ago. They no longer insure free-standing country homes. We have a well and are not on City Water from any of the three nearby towns. Of course, there's a frickin' LAKE across the road that they could pump water from if need be, but that doesn't count. *Rolleyes*
I'd say get used to the fact that it's every man for himself and plan accordingly. Just like it used to be! Wow! What a concept!
And since there's no "God" allowed anywhere anymore, there are not longer any "Acts of God." Get the connection? ;)
The fraudsters almost always have spent the money, and making
them pay back anything is impossible.
Sounds like the medicare system.
We live in a free society and this is one of the cracks.
Ever known a speeder to slow down after the 10th ticket?
The answer to the fraudulent claim problem is open ended.
How might I address the problem? I have not a clue, but I'll think about it.
Merry Christmas to All,
MaxMax.
Allstate* canceled my earthquake insurance as of October 2006 (Washington State). There aren't many companies that will insure for that here anymore.
*They don't really mean that
I wonder if it's really just a hurricane they are afraid of?!
By the way, Allstate, DUH.
Allstate wants to pick and choose who places the bets. Allstate needs to decide if it wants to be in the gambling game or not. They shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose.
Hell, Insurance is nothing more than a legal way to scam people. When they need it after paying years on a policy they will either not pay, raise rates or cancel you.
I haven't read up on Jersey's approach to home insurance, but I seem to recall some rather draconian measures by the state that caused auto insurers to pull out of the state.
This is tough on the guys who are Allstate agents in NJ as well. It's got to hurt.
