Hillary may have the buzz, but Rudy has the better poll numbers - at least for now. A new WNBC/Marist College survey yesterday found that while Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is the most popular presidential option among Democrats, a whopping 47% of all voters say they would "definitely not" vote for the former First Lady if she runs for President in 2008. By contrast, a full two-thirds of voters say they remain open to voting for former Mayor Rudy Giuliani - who would best Clinton, 49% to 43%, if the 2008 race were held today. The numbers suggest that the Republican Giuliani - whose pre-9/11 record remains a blank to most voters - has room to grow, while Clinton begins with nearly half the electorate aligned against her, experts said.
"The bottom line is that there is very little room for error in a Hillary-for-President campaign," says Marist College pollster Lee Miringoff. Not that Giuliani is without challenges. The poll found that while Giuliani remains the top pick among GOP voters, a full 47% of those voters - when told that Giuliani is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights - say such issues could be a "major factor" in their eventual decision. Aides to Giuliani declined to comment on the numbers, but Clinton pollster Mark Penn argued that Clinton has consistently proven she can expand her base of supporters. "When she started in New York, many people said they'd never vote for her - and she just won reelection with 67% of the electorate," said Penn.

Ok - nice job with the quotes.
I hate to tell you this - but Pat Robertson is not running for President.
You are a New Yorker, and have no clue as to how people below the Mason/Dixon think.
Rino Rudy is unelectable.
Ah yes - the old "us against them" theme.
In the mean time - the world is approaching a war of Muslims-vs-Christians,,,, and you want the conversation to be about social issues - ...
Better dig a bunker.
From - a neighbor south of the mason-dixon line.
Go Rudy Go! :)
Rock on BunnySlippers
May their chains rest lightly upon them.

Brooklyn Museum art controversy
In 1999 Giuliani threatened to cut off city funding for the Brooklyn Museum if the museum did not remove a number of works in an exhibit entitled Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection. One work in particular, The Holy Virgin Mary by Turner Prize winning-artist Chris Ofili (a Catholic himself), featured the Virgin Mary next to elephant dung and female genitalia pictures. It was targeted as being offensive to some in the Christian community in New York, leading the artist to comment that "This is all about control."
I know all that I ever wanted to know about Rudy. You need an education on how real conservatives vote.
You will see a repeat of 2006, whne a lot of the social conservatives and evanglelicals stayed home. Deal with it. Rino Rudy is a born loser in 2008.
The culture of death we really need to worry about is radical Islam. Rudy has not wavered in support of the President and the military on that issue.
Better to vote for someone who represents me and risk Hilary than be party to a culture of death candidate.
I got an education when Pat Robertson ran for President.
How about him - is he a good candidate for you?
Is he?
Just curious
True I am a NYer but I have relatives down South who I know will vote for Rudy in any election. But check out the polls for Georgia and Florida. Rudy wins hands down. And It looks like YOUR STATE STRAW POLL SHOWS BILL FRIST AS THEIR CHOICE . After that poll not much else in your state.
Watch what happens if Rudy is the nominee. Conservatives will leave the party in droves and for good reason. There is no way the base will get motivated in voting for a liberal.
You are so smooth and diplomatic - my hat off to you sir... !
There is a substancial amount of the base of the party that feels like this. I as a Catholic will never vote for a pro abortion, pro gay candidate. I can not ever vote for Rino Rudy.
