Alright, GodBlessUSA, I did a little searching and found this Jackson Hole Star Tribune article, shedding some "light" on the night shuttle topic:
in Florida "it lights the sky, turning night into day and waking the birds. You can feel the heat"
may be seen "as far north as Nova Scotia and as far west as Tampa"
The engines shut off when they reach orbit due east of Maine......residents of the US eastcoast should be able to see some of the shuttle's fiery streak." Keep me posted if you get anything different, but it looks like a 70% chance the weather will not be conducive....for the 8:47 pm Saturday liftoff. I'll be watching though for a thing of beauty.
