We agree that an Iraq that can govern itself, defend itself and sustain itself as an ally in the war on terror is a noble goal....that such progress for a country can take decades to achieve in Africa is excused by the rationale that the country "hasn't had enough experience in democracy and in governing itself", and patience is urged by all. That such progress hasn't been achieved in three years in Iraq (after a tyrant was deposed, a provisional government established, a constitution written, and a permanent government elected) results in a judgment of "failure" and accusations of "incompetence" and "denial of how grave the situation is" (even by some of those who thought we should get involved to begin with)...outrageous.......
