Some very interesting points as well as a few good one-liners. My favorite of those has to be, "Hagel's chances of being the nominee in 2008 are about the same as those of Richard Nixon -- and Nixon's dead."

If memory serves, no one had heard of Bill Clinton two years before he won the White House (thanks to Ross Perot) and few people knew George W. Bush as anything other than the former President's son two years before he was elected President himself. I still have hope that there is another Ronald Reagan just waiting to burst on the scene, but I am very much afraid that it will take President Hillary (GAG!) before he or she appears on the radar.

Just as there was never another Washington, Lincoln, or anyone else you might care to mention, there will never be "another Reagan" !

Your memory isn't very good. Clinton was praised and mentioned a LOT, on DESIGNING WOMEN, long before he ever ran for president and he gave a terrible speech at the 1988 Dem convention.....after which he was all over various late night T.V. shows playing the affable, "humble" but "intelligent" Governor of Ark.!

If it weren't for Perot, Clinton's WAR ROOM, and a very stupid voting populace, Bill Clinton would never have won in '92.

Don't pine for a Conservative "white knight"; do whatever it takes to defeat Hillary or Obama or whoever the '08 Dem is to be.
