Needless to say, any parent who puts a child in public school deserves whatever they get. The children probably don't, though...
Now common, be fair here. A lot of parents can't afford private school or homeschool.
I got an Air Force Academy Cadet.
Some people don't have a choice. Single moms working nights at a Nursing Home for $6.28 an hour can't afford private school and are sometimes too proud to go on welfare (or academically impaired) to homeschool.
There has to be a backlash against this craziness. There just has to be.
Nonsense. The parents deserve to get good schools: that is what the taxpayers are paying for.
If you favor homeschooling or private schools as superior alternatives to public schools, you will get no argument from me. But most families still send their children to public schools. So long as we are paying good money to the public schools, we have every right to demand that they meet our expectations.

I attended parochial school from nursery school until 9th grade. We read all sorts of trashy books at recess and slumber parties: stuff girls brought from home, from the library, etc. Public, private, or homeschooled, trash is widely available and kids are curious.

My kids were in a private Christian school, my oldest daughter, 15 at the time, had a required reading book in history, called "The State of the Arts: From Bezalel to Mapplethorpe." Knowing who Mapplethorpe was, I picked up the book and started reading. She got to learn about Mapplethorpe's photos of men urinating into mouths of other men. And about Annie Sprinkle's performance art consisting of masturbating on stage then inviting the patrons to come up and view her genitalia with a flashlight.
Just because the school has "private Christian" in the title, doesn't make it Christian.
Homeschooling is the only way to go.
