...The press quoted senior U.S. intelligence officials for the first time last week detailing the long hand that Syria and Iran play in conjunction with radical proxies in fermenting terror and mayhem from Beirut to Baghdad.....

Unless he meant fomenting.....
And these are the folks the of which Iraq Surrender Group says:
Given the ability of Iran and Syria to influence events within Iraq and their interest in avoiding chaos in Iraq, the United States should try to engage them constructively. In seeking to influence the behavior of both countries, the United States has disincentives and incentives available. Iran should stem the flow of arms and training to Iraq, respect Iraqs sovereignty and territorial integrity, and use its influence over Iraqi Shia groups to encourage national reconciliation. The issue of Irans nuclear programs should continue to be dealt with by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany. Syria should control its border with Iraq to stem the flow of funding, insurgents, and terrorists in and out of Iraq.
The United States cannot achieve its goals in the Middle East unless it deals directly with the Arab-Israeli conflict and regional instability. There must be a renewed and sustained commitment by the United States to a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace on all fronts: Lebanon, Syria, and President Bushs June 2002 commitment to a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. This commitment must include direct talks with, by, and between Israel, Lebanon, Palestinians (those who accept Israels right to exist), and Syria.
We need to find out who supplied the ISG with their drugs, arrest them and throw them in jail for at least 55 years. (The length of time one no-good-nik got for selling 3 half pound bags of MJ, while carrying a firearm, surely less of a danger to the Republic than the ISGs bunch of non expert old farts).
Given the nature of the folks he's talking about, fermenting might indeed be the correct term.
The process producing something only Pepi Le Pew would find pleasing. Although they start out smelling bad to begin with.
They must have been mainlining Liberalism.
James Baker is a paid agent of the Saudi government, so I'd say you need to look to Riyadh for the source.
Not that jailing the Saudi 'kings' is a bad idea, I just think it's a better one to destroy them.
L
Kill Americans until they make the Israelis give up land.
Wasn't the ISG suppose to come up with strategy for our side?
It's our piles of money and their oceans of oil which make them such steadfast friends. Baker likes the money.
Saw this guy on TV.Wants to deploy our troops to borders where enemy is.
