My Brother in Law was on the USS New Orleans during Pearl Harbor.
The Chaplain started the prayer "Praise The Lord and Pass the Ammunition".

Later in the war, a torpedo blew the entire bow off this Fine Ship between the #1 and 2 turrets.
They saved the ship by backing it into an atoll and making a false bow with palm trees and junk.
They made half speed to Australia where a new bow was installed.
He was transfered to the USS Laws and spent the rest of the war on it.

Prayers today don't have too be very different. as tho the jihadists who viciously attacked the United States on 9/11, Praise the lord and blast them to Perdition!
