A very interesting and disturbing article regarding James Baker, his law firm, and the Saudi Arabian legal connection entitled "A Legal Counterattack" can be found
here. I have posted some selected excerpts below.
April 16 - After months of working below the radar, a huge U.S. legal team hired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has sprung into action and begun a major counteroffensive against a landmark lawsuit seeking $1 trillion in damages on behalf of the victims of the September 11 terror attacks.
THE OPENING DEFENSE SALVO in what promises to be a bruising legal battle was fired last week when a trio of lawyers from Baker Botts, a prestigious Houston-based law firm, filed a motion on behalf of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi defense minister. The motion attacked the 9-11 lawsuit as a broadside indictment of Saudi government, religion and culture. It also argued that, as the third-ranking official of a foreign government, their client is immune from any U.S. legal action and that he should therefore be dismissed from the case altogether.
...
Backed up by stacks of court affidavits and copies of cancelled checks, the Baker Botts team openly acknowledge in their brief that Sultan has for the past 16 years approved regular payments of about $266,000 a year to the International Islamic Relief Organizationa large Saudi charity whose U.S. offices were last year raided by federal agents. Sultan also authorized two additional grants totaling $52,000 to the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, another Saudi-based group that has drawn the scrutiny of U.S. antiterrorism investigators.
...
Baker Botts, Sultans law firm, for example, still boasts former secretary of State James Baker as one of its senior partners. Its recent alumni include Robert Jordan, the former personal lawyer for President Bush who is now U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
See link above for much more (long article).

After the double dealing we've seen today, I wonder what other discoveries are going to be made concerning the Republican leadership.
Is global trade another sham? I am wondering about the gasoline prices and the supply and demand mantra we've been fed by the administration.
I won't believe another thing out of the White House unless it is first proven.
I thought Clinton was a Pinnochio but "W" can supply a family of eight with a year round supply of wood from the growth of his nose.

Will the Thread Wars ever stop?

It is Twilight Zone material. It makes the guests on Coast-to-Coast AM with George Noory seem grounded in reality and provable fact. The head of the Iraq strategy study group is a senior law partner of a firm representing the interests of the Sultan of Saudi Arabia. Beam me up Scotty.

I heard part of the Snow/Hannity interview today, and Tony Snow said "This is the type of war where we can't expect to have a victory celebration.". I almost drove off the road. Snowjob. The moniker fits him perfectly. Much to his credit Sean Hannity took issue with that statement.

Savage doing commentary about the 'New America' with the song of Bing Crosby playing in the background "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas. Quite devastating and sad. Thanks Savage.
Also asking what is Vernon Jordan (Isn't that Clinton's bud?)doing on the Baker Commission. What a joke!

I reject/retract any attempt to make fun of you.
I'm wondering if the JBS's view of Ronald Reagan is the same as yours?

" Rush is 4 times divorced and drugged himself deaf. Anyone who uses THAT as a role model is in serious trouble." Can I see those medical records you have to prove that Dr.?
Or is that a convenient lie to get some chuckles from some fellow Weiner fools?
I'll be waiting for those medical records.

I wish it will.
The key here is that peeople have to maintain civil behavior. Nobody's forcing anybody to listen to TSN. Thus making any thread war and any flaming absolutely unnecessary.
Nobody should have to be on the explicit defensive--and once again, we see many here having to be on the defensive because a few do not have the common courtesy to just stay off the thread. Let those who enjoy Savage have their own thread.
Am I saying these few do not have the right to their opinion? No. They certainly do. Nobody says they have to like Savage or agree with the man.
But common courtesy requires people to either say something constructive or not say anything at all. It's one thing to offer up a disagreement with what's on the radio; it's another to post garbage about the host just because the poster doesn't like listening to him.
In other words--if people don't like Savage, that's fine. Nobody's saying they have to listen to his show, read his books, and participate on this thread...
