U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) said it would be dangerously naive to link the revival of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks with progress on Iraq. Speaking Monday to a gathering of the Israel Policy Forum in New York, the incoming chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee responded to news reports that the Baker-Hamilton Commission is set to recommend reinvigorating American involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian track as a means to win moderate Arab support for stabilizing Iraq.
Israeli-Palestinian peace should be pursued aggressively on its own merits, period, not as some sort of diplomatic price to make the Arab states feel good so they will help us in Iraq, Biden said.
The Baker-Hamilton Commission, also known as the Iraq Study Group, is scheduled to present its recommendations Wednesday.
Yes, somebody tell me exactly where Israel is behind the current conflict in Iraq. That ISG is absolutely wrong headed. It sounds like they sat around reading Iranian propoganda as their blueprint.
dangerously naive
Maybe it pays better.

It is amazing that a Democrat is more clear headed about our enemies than Baker. Baker's "F" the Jews is sure showing in this idea.
As predicted.
Democracts will come to Israel's defense against the Bush Administration.
You know what? Fine. If it gets them on the right side of issues then its worth it.
And Biden of all people, to have a moment of sanity.
OMG - The ISG has forced me to agree with Joe Biden. Just when I thought things could get no worse.
Israel's fault.
From the report:
"Several Iraqi, U.S., and international officials commented to us that Iraqi opposition to the United Statesand support for Sadr spiked in the aftermath of Israels bombing campaign in Lebanon."
No mention of why Israel was bombing Lebanon.
It's all kooky defeatism. Talking to Iran won't work when we need to be destroying Iran's nuke program. Israeli withdrawal from the Golan heights is absurd when Syria and Iran are expanding into Lebanon. Pressuring our allies will only embolden their enemies. This report is crap.
They actually say that some people "mentioned" to them that some Iraqi opposition "spiked" when Israel was fighting in Lebanon??? What the hell does that even mean? Not much.
Don't forget, Biden is running for President too.
Wouldn't it be dangerously naive NOT to?
Like you, I ask, how does betraying our friends and abandoning our allies help to stop Syria and Iran from pursuing their support for terrorism. They get rewarded and those who fought with us and allied themselves get sacrificed in a sell out of historical proportion. Baker and his ilk need their heads examined.
For once I agree with Slow Joe Biden.
Surely the apocolypse is near
I'm listening to Sean Hannity read the report now. We should talk to Iran "without preconditions." So Iran can have its nuke program, interfere in Lebanon, and want to exterminate Israel (and us for that matter). How special.
He must have copied off someone else's paper.
This has to be the first time we all agree with him. Where is that photo of Hell freezing over?
