Heck, I'm surprised he didn't offer to nuke all of Israel as an incentive for Iran to not develop nuclear weapons.

ROTFLMAO. True that. True that.

Yeah, like Kristol has done anything other than undermine the president for the past two years!

I'm going to buy a Burka to send to O'Conner and a white flag to send to Baker.

Yes ma'am:

"In the frenzied final week of the Iraq Study Group's deliberations, co-chairmen James Baker and Lee Hamilton took time out to pose for a photo spread for a fashion magazine, Men's Vogue. This might seem a dubious decision given the gravity of the moment and their self-appointed roles as the nation's saviors. The "wise men" who counseled Lyndon Johnson during Vietnam and the members of the Kissinger Commission who tried to reshape Ronald Reagan's Central American policies did not sit for Annie Leibovitz in the middle of their endeavors. Nor did they hire a mega-public relations firm to sell their recommendations (supposedly intended for the president) to the public at large, as Baker and Hamilton have done."

"Did I hear that? Have I finally lost my mind???"

It could be a case of Tim Russert having trouble understanding the English language.

If people get off their butts and actually vote in the primaries we won't have to choose between him and sHillary.... but, I do think she is the scariest of the two and that is a terrible choice nonetheless.

I wish it was my call. The problem with our current leadership is they are far to concerned with asking permission. It's much easier to just do it, and apologize later, if necessary.

As for the "Train the Iraqis" recommendation, that's the typical corporate leadership answer when things go to hell. Seen it far too much to not recognize a cop-out when I see one. It also lays the groundwork for shifting the blame to the trainers when the problem isn't resolved. The only thing that's going to happen is that our guys will get killed more - by the people they are training. I seem to recall that another report said the Iraqi Army and Police were eat up with bad guys, and idiots looking for a handout.

What crap!

I don't know who annoys me the most, the "unleash unlimited destruction" types or the "pull out now because I get so upset watching the evening news" types.

They're both infantile.

All we need to do to win is to remain steadfast and persevere.

That's it.

When will the madness stop!!!!

When we're hit again, tenfold of what 9-11 did.

I'm with you on the gross inappropriateness of that attempt.
I don't agree that they have made a successful coup against President Bush. or that they will succeed at it later. We still have our elected and appointive leaders and they will not cease their responsibilities and roll over, in my view, for parts of any report they believe are wrong.

What they might do is finesse them to a degree, rather than panicking and taking a jackhammer to them.

My judgement...FWIW.

Yep. Giving the Soviets the entire East bloc did wonders for world peace and stabilty for about 50 years or so. Didn't it?

CFR thinking is going to ultimately doom this country. It almost did in the 90's and we pulled back a tad in part due to 9/11. Thank goodness back in the 70's and 80's, Ronald Reagan IGNORED people like the Iraqi study group. For the sake of his place in history, GW Bush should too.

Then again, the administration did a miserable job of PR - thus not getting any and all truth out.

Eisenhower was correct, though he took it as a given that OUR press would be on OUR side. Unless GWB is on board with the recomendations, endorsing "study group" was a serious mistake.

Correspondents have a job in war as essential as the military personnel. Fundamentally, public opinion wins wars.

And the FACT is that you do not understand the nature of the fight in Iraq.

You mean the PC national building while guys like Al Sadr run free making mischief?
