Sure, we just need to go in, kick butt, remove the leadership, then get out. Let nature take it's course. If we don't like the outcome, we quickly go back in and do it again.

We showed in Iraq that we can kick a heavily armed country's rear in short order. I think we could do Syria in less than a week. Iran might take a month. We could do it with very few casualties.

That's not "winning a war." If things go to hell in a handbasket after we leave, "going back and doing it again" is a confession that we lost last time. And after a certain point, one has to wonder if it's worth "going back in and doing it again" again.

So you think after Adolf blew his brains out, we should have just gotten out of Germany?

I'm with you. The thing that worries despots the most is losing their own skins. They're so worried about that that they'll expend millions of their countrymen to achieve that singular goal. Show the world that we can vaporize a country's civil infrastructure with pin-point accuracy and you'll (a) scare the sh!t out of the populace, and (b) scare the sh!t out of the despots. No more "boots on the ground" for babysitting duty. Boots on the ground to kill people and break things, period, and then 'hasta la vista'.
