People have no concept of what war is, what it is suppposed to be. As Rush says, "The purpose of war is to kill people and break things."

Rush is wrong, and so are you. The method of war is certainly to do that.

But it would be the pinnacle of evil to believe that killing and breaking was the only purpose of war.

Are we going to love the enemy to death?

Rush is wrong...

You forgot to add Rush's next truism, which is that 'we go to war (killing and breaking things) in order to break the will of the enemy and change their behavior.'

Why would you disagree with that?

Then what is the purpose of war? Israel just concluded a war the Hisbolla in Lebanon. What was accomplished. If Israel had just level the South of Lebanon to cinder, the war would had done what it needed, DESTROYING THE ENEMY. Leaving pieces and parts intact is pure stupidity.

Since you got Rush's rule wrong to begin with the corresponding responses are incorrect.

Rush's rule is actually, "The purpose of the military is to kill people and break stuff."

Now, r9etb, is Rush wrong about that? If so, what is the purpose of the military?
