BEIRUT (AP) Shiites on Tuesday buried a young man killed in street clashes in a Sunni neighbourhood as Lebanon's army commander warned that the military may not be able to contain any further protests linked to the country's tense political standoff.
Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman urged politicians to compromise, according to comments quoted by several Beirut newspapers.
After another night of unrest in the capital, Prime Minister Fuad Siniora also warned that the situation could get out of control. "No one can impose control on the streets and this has been proven," he told hundreds of supporters who converged throughout the day on his office complex, which is ringed by barbed wire, combat troops and riot police...

the only thing weaker than Lebanon's government is it's military it seems
Nasrallah should have been killed months ago and his gangmembers arrested.
Yes Israel should have taken out Nasrallah at their "victory" celebration in Beirut. Nasrallah is a coward for not coming out of hiding at such an important time. He never goes anywhere near the front lines. He prefers to let Hezbollah's young men do all his dirty work for him. If Nasrallah dies, I wonder if his death would throw Hezbollah into dissaray. Maybe they don't have an adequate successor to fill the void.
The military will divide if they take any action against one side. The military like the population is divided into many sects, those sects will never raise their weapon against the people that they support. In lebanon, if you are sunni, 90% of the time you are supporting the future movement led by hariri jr. If you are druze ou support Walid jumblatt and idolize him as if he were god. If you are shiite you are 99% a hezbollah or amal supporter and they are the same crap with a different name. The only group that seems to be able to somewhat think for themselves and formulate their own opinions are the christians which happens to be the reason why they are so divided and alot of tension is there. Technically they want the same thing but the past and what happened during the civil war is what mainly divides them, as well as some of their stances towards hezbollah. So basically the military cant take a side or else the military itself will collapse and the country will lose whatever little restraint it may have.
Nasrallahs death is very bad for israel and the west. Believe it or not, nasrallah is seen as a moderate in hezbollah. I dont think it would be great to replace him with more hardliners, which would surely be the case if he is assassinated. Hezbollah has to be destroyed with him at the helm and no one else should be able to take his place.
