Executive Proposes Cobo Center Overhaul

Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano is proposing a $968 million overhaul and expansion of Cobo Center.

Ficano said he'd pay for the plan by extending hotel and liquor taxes that are set to end in 2015 for 35 more years.

For $968 million, they could build 4 new Cobo halls.... with plenty of parking.

Yep, ONE BILLION DOLLARS, for 300,000 square feet, for use 2 weeks a year. This needs to be put down fast.

Part of the Billion Dollar cost is paying every county in Michigan a bribe.

One more point is the state raises cigarette taxes to discourage smoking, yet they want increased hotel taxes to encourage people to stay in hotels...

Detroit is almost insolvent. Most of this money would be used to keep it afloat.

Who cares--so long as it is not one red dime from out-state taxpayers. Detroit is dead and I am sick of funneling tax dollars to them.
