...and when "Christians" stop celebrating the celebration of Christ's birth as a "Winter Consumerism Festival" ...things will change.

And in the meantime, China's manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Alot of Christian families shop at Old Navy because of their simple, inexpensive clothing.

I can't say it's for the modesty of their fashions or the lack of vulgar slogans.

Perhaps due to my upbringing, I have always viewed the secular holiday and the religious celebration as distinct and separate. The gift giving, tree decorations, egg nog, etc. are pleasant seasonal accouterments, but they don't really have anything to do with Advent or the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Hence, I don't really care what retailers do or don't do in connection with their "holiday" advertising. Indeed, one of my favorite places to shop for gifts was Kaplan's in the Houston Heights (alas, closed now), and as you can probably tell by the name, they didn't have any Christmas decorations.

People don't buy Old Navy because it's the "in" thing, they buy it because it's cheap (you get what you pay for). I, myself, love Banana Republic. They have some of the best designers. What I like about BR is that they take a basic and add a little "twist" to it, and their clothing is very well made (isn't ruined after one washing).
