Providence, RI -- Hackers attacked the computer network at the Naval War College in Newport, taking down the school's network for more than two weeks, including some e-mail services and the college's Web site.

The Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Norfolk, Va., detected the intrusion around Nov. 16 and took the system offline, spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Doug Gabos said. He said the unclassified network was used by students.

Quite true. This is a terrorist attack on US soil, isn't it?

LOL, is this really newsworthy? It's just the student network. Someone might have had their MP3 collection raided.

FYI: Students at the Naval War College are 0-5 Navy and sister service officers (Commanders & Lieutenant Colonels) that are the cream of the crop destined to wear stars.

Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Norfolk, Va.???

And what might their job be? Sounds like it's not working too well.

My info has it that there are around 9,000 attacks on military networks daily. Most of these are innocent or accidental attempts to gain access. Other are those that are curious about if they can penetrate and there are those from hostile countries.
