The top-rated television station in West Palm Beach, Fla., is calling on viewers to put aside their ''political beliefs'' to help 13 illegal aliens trying to "survive the American Dream" after being displaced by a fire at the home they rent in the city.
Jamie Holmes, a reporter for the NBC affiliate, WPTV-TV, avoided referring to the members of the Bravo and Morales families as illegal aliens or undocumented immigrants in an original on-air report, instead describing them as ''the hard-working kind of people which created such a controversy in America this year ... .''
However, the written version of the story that later appeared on the station's website was altered to mention they were indeed illegal.
That copy read: "The Morales and the Bravo family are the hard-working kind of people which created such a controversy in America this year.
''Regardless of your opinion on illegals in this country, these two families believe in giving back to a nation which has been kind to them."
In the videotaped report, Holmes admonished viewers to ''put away your political beliefs of where they should or should not be'' before making an appeal for donations of money, beds, bedding, toys, and household items.
An assignment editor with the station, David Gould, was contacted by WND and asked how the station decides which stories to become advocates for, why the original report didn't note the families are illegals, should the station be soliciting on behalf of those who are breaking the law and how it is decided when reporters should admonish viewers as to how they should respond.
He said only News Director Peter Roghaar could respond to those questions, and, "He won't be in until Thursday." WND also was told the reporter was off on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the general manager, Brian Lawlor, was out of the office today. Messages left for Lawlor, his assistant and Roghaar weren't returned.
The local chapter of the Red Cross had been assisting the families but the report indicated the organization's ''hospitality'' would soon ''run out.''
According to the on-air report, younger members of the families have been working with a local man and ''fixing up bikes just to hand out to under-privileged kids.''
The report went on to say: ''Now this family which believes in giving back to the nation which has given to them, doesn't know what's coming. No beds, no toys, most of their clothes are gone, but what's left is perhaps most important: 13 people as close as they come ... about the only guarantee for tomorrow is that they'll all be together.''
As WND reported in March, five suspected illegal aliens were taken into custody after the pickup truck they were in smashed into a car in suburban West Palm Beach, killing a popular school principal.
Local television stations and the Palm Beach Post newspaper reported on the crash at the time but did not initially state the men were illegal aliens, or even suspected illegals.
I'm sure Dane will be happy to help them.
So many illegals here in South Florida most can't imegine it.
If you go to a hospital your bill is through to roof to pay for these leaches who use them and pay nothing.
These "hard-working immigrants" probably left candles burning, as is so often the case. The landlord who rents to these third-worlders deserves the loss of his property. Insurers should refuse to pay out in these cases.
One would think some enterprising States Attorney could make a name for themself by charging someone here.

Get your facts straight.
Entering the country illegally is NOT a crime. That is precisely what you antis are so upset about. HR4437 / Sensenbrener was written precisely to make it a crime because it is not now a crime. Of course, HR4437 did not have the support among the voters, nor most politicians, to become law.
Entering the country illegally is a misdemeanor. Aiding and abetting an illegal is on a par with giving me gas money so I can speed in my car without wearing my seatbelt.
If you antis ever hope to get anywhere, you need to separate out voluntary support for illegals from FORCED support of illegals through taxes paying for their "welfare".

To be cost effective (with my tax money) and to be effective in the country's priorities, our immigration policy should be focused. A focus on 12 million is no focus at all. Our immigration policy should focus on::
1. Terrorists
2. Murderers, rapists, truly bad people
3. Welfare parasites
And if the state AG doesn't have a prob, then the FCC oughta.
Probably Dane's employees.
It's an invasion. Any time foreigners invade a country without permission then they are invaders and should be treated as such. However, the MSM (and quislings like you) have convinced enough mindless Americans that invading the U.S. is okay. Would you be so amenable to this invasion if they were Poles, Russians, Chinese, Ethiopians, etc? I doubt it.
BTW, one of the biggest sources of illegals are those overstaying their visa which is a crime.
You are so desperate to have these invaders treated as citizens that you can't see the truth.
Palm each county.
The D.A. is the same bozo dem that went after
Rush for no reason.
Clogging the courts. Jeez, why not make misdemeanors out of most felonies while they're at it. Snort.
Bullsh**.
Here's the relevant law:
Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact; has committed a federal crime.
Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.
Entering the country illegally is a misdemeanor
So which is it Sparky? Is it not illegal or is it a criminal misdemeanor?
Actually it doesn't matter what you say. Title 8 Section 1325 says it's a Felony.

"Entering the country illegally is NOT a crime"
GEE! And here I'v spent a lifetime thinking that "illegal" meant "crime!"
....as in NOT LEGAL!
At least STB has a good reason to fight. His Wife/family are/or were illegal. The rest of these mamby pamby, goodtime rock and roller, compassionate bleeding hearters, are traitors to this country.
Ever wonder what it is with folks where denial of reality and the law comes from?
Is it genetic, psychotic, or a delusional combination?
I too wish there was no poverty or sickness or crime in the world, but that's simply just not the case.
I do not have any problems with legal immigrants and visitors of any creed as long as they are not criminals and are healthy. But, I have a serious problem with those on all sides that choose to ignore immigration law and procedure.
It seems to me that this NBC affilliate is aiding and abetting felons. There should be some consequences for that.

I know alot of american born and bred citizens that are struggling very badly this year. I know some are not getting a christmas at all. I know some are having a very hard time clothing their kids properly. Some have a hard time finding homes they can afford to live in. And all of these people are LEGAL , yet they are having trouble living the "AMERICAN DREAM" where's the tears? where's the media?
They just stand there with their metaphorical fingers in their ears shouting "I can't hear you! I can't hear you! So there!"
When you call them on it, they change the subject..."Oh what you've never broken the law?" or they say something really stupid like "Americans break the law, too you know. What are you a racist?"
I've had it with the lot of them.
