Bolton's Goodbye: Bowing to the Inevitable (CHAFEE SAYS "PICK GEORGE MITCHELL")

Some opponents were softening, but the controversial U.N. ambassador's resignation is yet another sign of the changed political landscape after Nov. 7

The resignation of John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations marks another acknowledgement by the White House of the political consequences of the Nov. 7 Congressional elections.

....

Chafee, who was defeated for reelection, issued a statement reiterating his opposition. " Mr. Bolton did not demonstrate the kind of collaborative approach that I believe will be called for if we are to restore the United States ' position as the strongest country in a peaceful world," he said. "This would be an appropriate time to choose a nominee who has a proven ability to work with both sides of the political aisle, a history of building strong international relationships and a reputation of respect for the institution of the United Nations. The names Brent Scowcroft and George Mitchell come to mind immediately as outstanding candidates. " There's no word from White House yet on whom it might nominate as Bolton's replacement.

Hey Bonehead (that would be Chaffee)!

In case you didn't notice, THE WORLD ISN'T THE LEAST BIT PEACEFUL!!!!! You and your leftist buddies have done all you can to weaken the position of the United States in the very dangerous world. Congratulations!

Good riddance to bad trash.

really do think even a Democratic controlled US Senate would have a hard time refusing one of their own.

Did you miss the story this morning that Reid, et a., are manipulating things around so Bush won't be able to make an recess appointments?

Read it and tell me again how you think they'll respect a former member.

Let's see if Jean Kirkpatrick is doing anything special. If not, I'd love to see a recess appointment of Ann Coulter!

In fairness to Chafee: he gave his opinion, which is crap. The media turned this into rumour.

We can discuss whether they did this for malicious reasons - I'd say that was a good guess - and certainly, seeing conservatives kill each other over this probably amused them for the hour it lasted.

Regards, Ivan

"This would be an appropriate time to choose a nominee who has a proven ability to work with both sides of the political aisle, a history of building strong international relationships and a reputation of respect for the institution of the United Nations."

Apparently the writer forgot that the AMBASSADOR to the UN, who is APPOINTED by the PRESIDENT represents the country and not a political party.

Oh, Chaffee is a schmuck.

And .. it would appear that this attack upon Bolton is sour grapes on the part of Chaffee. Pitiful and petty politics .. good grief. These people are acting like children.

"The resignation of John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations marks another acknowledgement by the White House of the political consequences of the Nov. 7 Congressional elections."

-------

Let's see. According to the MSM, since the elections, the American people want:

• Amnesty and open borders

• The U.S. to pull out of Iraq immediately

• Bush to resign or be impeached

• Rumsfeld and Bolton gone

• HIllary or Obama to be President

• Tax increases

According to the media, since the election:

• Every voter is a Democrat

• Pelosi is the real President

• All military veterans want the U.S. out of Iraq

• Christans have become Democrats

• The world cheered the Democrat victories

• Bush is a poweless lame duck

Wow.
