Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill. While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.

If conservatives had realized that his guest worker program would have screened out everyone who did not have a job and an employer willing to vouch for them this number would be about 20% of what is given here. All that shamnesty stuff gives us lots more welfare recipients etc. You should learn that politics is the art of the possible not of temper tantrums and thumping your chest asserting "we are the base".
If ever such a thing should come to pass, Heaven forbid, I would hope that the "seceeding" states would be sure to make sure that THEY retain the label of United States of America and maintain the same Constitution.
Once the restraining influence of those states is removed, the "rump" would quickly spiral out of control, and would likely move into direct rebellion against that supreme law of the land, thus justifying the decision to seperate.
Personally, I pray this never happens.
The question really is when is it going to happen and what issue is going to force the split/fight. This is one of the reasons why I'm not very optimistic about the future. Everyone sees the divisions and everyone realizes on some level that these divisions aren't going to be healed by "talking to each other".
Didn't stay home, but I'm going to keep blaming them, yes. While the Democrats were the main supporters for Shamnesty, the President's support for it, along with 'Pubbie Congressional Leadership (esp. in the Senate) dumped this steaming pile square in the 'Pubbies lap. It IS their fault.
Maybe if they showed some spine on the issue we might have retained some more seats... But 'Pubbie Congresscirtters have their spines removed operations at Bethesda shortly after they're elected.
LOL, diddee hit a nerve there? XD
Twenty years from now, people will wonder why we didn't listen to him.
"If they try this we the LEGAL law abiding citizens of this country are going to have to raise absolute hell in the public forum." Oh but the democRATS response will be: Buscamos igualdad para todas los habitantes de este país. (Can't read the Spanish sounds like you need to get with the program and learn the new language of America.)
I don't believe they have enough of a majority to do what this article claims. What I *do* believe they have is the majority necessary to pass the senate bill from last year.
As soon as they're Americans, they'll stop doing the jobs American won't do, right?
Yup. You've got it. Enjoy your minorty party.
Basically, corporate and government sponsored elitist oligarchies to 'manage' the world.
If we don't stop this... it's over... kaput... lights out.

This is the senate bill that Bush said he would get behind.
It is not amnesty for all, but it comes close.
Right! Then we have another wave of illegals to replace them..

Then we have another wave of illegals to replace them..
"Now of course they're going to squeal the loudest and blame the GOP some more."
Why not?
GWB will sign it into law.
