Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill. While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.

Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave.
What? You must mean Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave happy as can be that he and Bush II are the only ones that have had amnesty. I know this is hard to believe but only Republican Presidents call for Amnesty. It is amazing to say the least....please don't blame the democrats on this one. Both Presidents can veto all bills before them and sometimes don't especially on illegal aliens for some reason.

it is all about votes and money.
doesn't it cost $17,000.00 to become a citizen?

That's the thing, they want us to pay for it too.
They almost sold us out last year. Well, we put it off a year I guess.

Grant them legal status with no voting rights...since they came in "illegally"Why grant them legal status? Let them get in the legal immigration line along with everyone else. And, deport the drunk drivers, the rapists, the child-molesters, the gang members and all those that break any other laws once they're here.
Couple that with real sanctions on employers and, most importantly, real border security, and we'd soon be back in control of our sovereignty.

Now add hysterical and delusional to your state of denial. Hey if I was trying to defend the immigration policies of a Ted Kennedy or George Bush on a conservative Web forum, I'd retreat too into ad-hominem attacks, straw-man arguments, false-choice propositions and juvenile cartoons.

There is no will of the people anymore....I was watching THE MAGNIFICENT YANKEE this morning, the great movie about Oliver Wendell Holmes...the ending made me cry. He was over 90 years old and FDR came to his home to visit. When asked how he would receive the President, Holmes said, "although I am a Republican and he a Democrat, I will tell my Commander in Chief that we are at War, and that he must FIGHT LIKE HELL!
Great movie, but I wonder how many FREEPERS here would invite President Clinton into their home for a visit. Make you go hum!!!!!

Smart move. When you've shown a complete lack of rational argument, fall back on simple name-calling.

But who will lead us?
Preferably somebody who has no ties to the current or past Bush administrations. Somebody who does not pull this "compassionate conservative" crap that is just a thinly-veiled disguise for moderate/socially liberal.

Hey, why don't you link any posts where I defended Bush's policy, Mr. Know It All?

I understand what you are saying and I do respect your opinion. Perhaps my frustration with this subject is turning a bit negative and maybe it's time for me to talk about something else since my objectivity has been clouded by what I feel.
However, amnesty is still an affront to those who actually respect and abide by the laws of this great land. I just can't seem to excuse it whom ever is doing the amnesty.
Also, one is assuming that the new illegals have the same intentions as the ones from 20 years ago. I don't remember seeing demonstrations and so many Mexican flags back in the early 80's. Also, communist socialist ideologies are now much stronger in the Latino world.
Please remember, past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
Respectfully,
SQ

So you don't support the President's liberal immigration policies? Good news. Glad you came around.

This would be a irreversible disaster for this country.
President Eisenhower deported millions of illegal aliens and we should do the same.

Wrong. You hate conservatives like me, who have the cojones to stand up and speak out when my party and my President are wrong and making bad decisions, I don't know why you keep arguing this ..
Y'all wanted the Rino's out and you won
Folks like J.D. Hawworth and Rick Santorum lost their election
Now go forth and rejoice in your win
