Congress Open to Passing Bill on Immigration (Citizenship for 20 million illegals!)
The Washington Times ^ | December 4, 2006 | Charles Hurt

Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill. While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.

"Hey, but the border bots showed the GOP by staying home. Now of course they're going to squeal the loudest and blame the GOP some more."

That is BS...post election voting info shows that we got at least 95% of our base out, in many areas a bigger turnout that 2004. Where we failed, and it should have been obvious, was with the stupid idea that 2004 voters would do the 'hold the nose and vote for crappy republican candidates' in place of worse democrat canddiates. The base pretty much did that. The indepents and blue dog democrats said 'no way'. Why vote for moderates in an out of touch party instead of moderates in any other party?

As long as we do not demand our elected leadership do what we elected them to do, we will continue to lose.

Bring you back?

Why do I believe you were never "here" in the first place?

Are you under the impression that lying about the facts makes your argument valid?

Enjoy your minority party.

At least I have a party.

"Only a small number of Republicans will support it, if any. Of course you'll conclude based on those few Republicans that the entire contingent of Congressional Republicans are supporting it."

For heavens sake...all we need are 40 republican or anti-amnesty democrats to stop the idea cold in the senate.

The question is, do we have 40 republicans left in the senate?

Telling the truth to people who are consumed by the propaganda, is like peeing in the wind.

Not neccesarily. I heard a politcal consultant/researcher say last week that a surprising number of Hispanics who do not now vote would vote Republican and that is the reason why the president appointed Martinez to head up the Republican party.

Well, its a good thing I don't rely on government to secure anything that mine anyway...

So I'd say I'll be a thorn in someones side, and that the odds are with me...

I do agree that the situation is dicey to say the least now...

Can we please lay the blame where it belongs. The few conservatives (not synonomous with GOP) who did sit out did not give aaway the election. Top Republicans did everything they could to PO both sides of the fence. The result was a very large turnout for the Dims (I hazard to guess how much vote fraud there was). I did not, nor do I know anyone who stayed home.

For whatever reasons, the Republican "leadership" (including Mr. Bush) lost the GOP majority. If it comes down to a choice between McStain and Hellery, there wil be a very noticible blank spot at the top of my ballot in 08.
