"Another Burkett & Whitley Stolen Valor moment? What does his DD214 say?"

That's where a lot of the confusion comes in: The DD 214 doesn't say, specifically, where you served, only when, so us "-era vets" can get by with the deceit.

When I was at the license bureau (Colorado) with my DD214,they were all set to issue me "Vietnam Veteran" plates until I insisted on the "Honorably Discharged Veteran" plates. The clerk was a little confused about the distinction.

Without getting it from the safe in my closet, my DD214 has a space which specifically asks "Vietnam Service: Yes", then lists dates of service: 28 AUG 68-24 AUG 69, and goes on to list awards & other data.

Thus?...

Good evening.
"The DD 214 doesn't say, specifically, where you served, only when,"

Your DD214 will list major commands and time served in them.

I have two. One shows 6 mos in CONUS( Continental US) and 6 mos in USARAL(US Army, Alaska), the other shows 33 mos in USARV(US Army, Vietnam).

I haven't looked beyond this thread. Do we know how Morin actually presented his service, or only AP's interpretation of it?
