If newspapers dont have an alternative, readers do. Its called the Internet.
Thats why newspapers, if they dont want to be dragged further into irrelevance and disrepute, have to tell The Associated Press they are dissatisfied with its product.

The Santa Fe New Mexican has the same Leftist bias as AP. We dropped our subscription years and years ago after the umpteenth phone fight with their editorial page editor re why my letter to the editor was not published or published in redacted form.
Customers are indeed expressing displeasure--but those would be subscribers, not newspaper editors.
There's a difference between a newspaper editor and a maggot, but I can't remember it this second.
