Gore calls out Bush on 9/11 ("I Would Have Heeded 9/11 Warnings")

Gore calls out Bush on 9/11

Sen. Albert Gore, Jr. as interviewed by Gentleman's Quarterly :

GQ: Okay, on to 9-11. What were you really feeling? Was there a part of you that felt a sense of relief that you weren’t in charge that day? You mean a sense of relief that I didn’t have to deal with it?

Gore: Oh no. Not at all. Not for one second. Not for one second. Why would I? I mean, well first of all, it just didn’t occur to me to feel anything like that. What did occur to me was to feel what every American felt, the outrage and anger and righteous anger, and support for the President at a time of danger… And, honestly, I was focused on the reality of the situation. And I wasn't president, so, you know, it wasn’t about me. Now, I do wish, now that we have some distance from the events, and we have all this knowledge about what this administration did do, I certainly feel that I wish that it had been handled differently, and I do wish that I had somehow been able to prevent some of the catastrophic mistakes that were made.

GQ: Do you feel that we would be safer today if you had been president on that day?

Gore: Well, no one can say that the 9-11 attack wouldn’t have occurred whoever was president.

GQ: Really? How about all the warnings?

GORE: That's a separate question. And it’s almost too easy to say, "I would have heeded the warnings." In fact, I think I would have, I know I would have. We had several instances when the CIA’s alarm bells went off, and what we did when that happened was, we had emergency meetings and called everybody together and made sure that all systems were go and every agency was hitting on all cylinders, and we made them bring more information, and go into the second and third and fourth level of detail.

GORE (cont.): And made suggestions on how we could respond in a more coordinated, more effective way. It is inconceivable to me that Bush would read a warning as stark and as clear [voice angry now] as the one he received on August 6th of 2001, and, according to some of the new histories, he turned to the briefer and said, "Well, you’ve covered your ass." And never called a follow up meeting. Never made an inquiry. Never asked a single question.

GORE (cont.): To this day, I don't understand it. And, I think it’s fair to say that he personally does in fact bear a measure of blame for not doing his job at a time when we really needed him to do his job. And now the Woodward book has this episode that has been confirmed by the record that George Tenet, who was much abused by this administration, went over to the White House for the purpose of calling an emergency meeting and warning as clearly as possible about the extremely dangerous situation with Osama bin Laden, and was brushed off!

GORE (cont.): And I don’t know why—honestly—I mean, I understand how horrible this Congressman Foley situation with the instant messaging is, okay? I understand that. But, why didn't these kinds of things produce a similar outrage? And you know, I'm even reluctant to talk about it in these terms because it's so easy for people to hear this or read this as sort of cheap political game-playing. I understand how it could sound that way.

GORE (cont.): [Practically screaming now] But dammit, whatever happened to the concept of accountability for catastrophic failure? This administration has been by far the most incompetent, inept, and with more moral cowardice, and obsequiousness to their wealthy contributors, and obliviousness to the public interest of any administration in modern history, and probably in the entire history of the country!

Mr. Gore would have heeded nothing, because he cannot shut his megalomanic mouth long enough to hear anything but himself.

After 2000 he was left with absolutely nothing while the clintons made rags to riches by their book deals and the "bent" one still making cash on speeches overseas treasonous to the U.S.!

However it looks like alBore outfoxed them both, because I believe he is now making far more than the clintons with his stupid movies that the dims are gobbling up!!

Go and figure how libs and environmentalist wachos understand the way of duping some cool-aid drinking Americans!!!

Something's fishy here. The picture I posted was dated 11/15/06. Evidently, the GQ is 11/30 or so?

Maybe he uses the Katie Couric diet?

The boy isn't just stupid with a loud mouth, he's got a deep and wide mean streak, too.

He's got the deep and wide mean streak of a schoolyard bully. Meaning, if you actually turned on him, he'd cover up and whimper like a baby.

Gore's response (and the rest of his DemonRat Party comrades) to the 9/11 attacks would have been to apologize to the Muslim world for our imperialistic policies. Then, he would have invited a party of Muslims Imans into the Oval Office so they could flagellate him while he chanted, "I am a dirty Infidel."

Your picture has a recent date but taken at the Oscars.

When are the Academy Awards? Six months ago?

And maybe your picture was taken at LAST YEAR'S Academy Awards.

Just like the warnings with WTC in 93, Our Embassies in 98, the USS Cole, Khobar Towers?

They were too busy with dealing with the extremists in Waco & the (Elian) Gonzales family. They still behave as if the US had no external enemies when they were in charge (and if you just put them back in charge we can return to those happier times).

Only if al Qaeda had threatened to release a bomb that massively increased "greenhouse" gases would that nut case have reacted.

(GQ) Oh, nice pants by the way. I'm glad your got rid of those earthtones. How about meeting for a drink later? I have some great Abu Graib videos. I could put panties on your head and hit you with a riding crop?
(Algore) OK, it's Tippers night off. I think she has an AA meeting or something.

Am I wrong or was this supercilious little fart the one who was in charge of airport security overhaul while he was Veep?

You might want to read this article from FR's archives. I'm sure there are more.

Thanks.

I decided. I hate JOn Carey more. He is empty, vapid and a snob. At least Al Gore is delusional. Better than an empty suit who snoots people.

I don't know.

What a narcissistic twit.

"Gore Airline Safety Commission" - Big Al was in charge of upgrading airline security after al Qaeda plan for BOJINKA (9-11 precursor) was discovered in the mid-1990's.

Gee Al imagine the effect reinforcing the cockpit doors (one recommendation of your own commission) might have had on 9-11.

Some of us remember all those airline campaign donations that poured into your Presidential campaign days after you wrote your airline buddies a letter assuring them you wouldn't press for any security upgrades that might have cost them what, couple hundred dollars per jet?

Al, not only would you have NOT heeded the warnings, but you and your fellow Democrats would have aided Al-qaida in future attacks against America.

Al-bore and his gang of sychophantic leftists couldn't "heed the warnings" when they were in power for 8 years, and even now, after 6 more years, he has no idea how to conduct national security efforts or what to actually DO. The 'Rats are constantly trying to weaken our security posture, both domestically and internationally, yet this puke has the nerve to pretend that HE would somehow find all the answers (so where are your answers, Little Al, we're still waiting).
