One other thing was that Keating was being considered for Attorney General. Joe Albaugh, who was then head of FEMA had a brother who was in charge of the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce in the Silicon Valley whose function was to try and lure high tech firms to relocate to Oklahoma.
When Keating took over as governor he fired Albaugh's brother. Well, when Keating thought he was going to be the next AG Joe killed that deal. Paybacks are hell in politics.
That was a story that was related to me from inside the Oklahoma State Government.
The way he insulted the voter's for not electing his wife to congress was the final straw for me. I have been looking for the quote but thus far unsuccessful in finding it.
