Since no one answered your question, I'll give it a shot. ;) Its news because its another one of those infamous super secret leaks to the NYT. According to FOX radio news, Rumsfeld recommended putting US Troops on the border of Iran and Syria, in the days prior to the announcement of his resignation. (hope we've been using drones on those borders, at the very least.)

Another question - so who is purposely leaking these leaks?? Lately, its like a faucet has burst.
Interesting also on the same list of news items, Bush assures Olmert, Iran and Syria will remain on the axis of evil. Anyone ever hear that the little hitler AJ, said, his 12th imam will set up shop and rule from Iraq. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. (the anti-christ, perhaps)

Report: Rumsfeld urged tactical changes in Iraq

It was a CLASSIFIED memo! How does the NYT get ahold of these? I wonder if it IS via "leaks" or if they plant someone in there or even hack in. I SO DESPISE the NYT, it's hard to express to what extent!! But they are --- make no mistake --- THE ENEMY.
At any rate, what is the big deal about SECDEF writing a memo re tactics/options/etc? There is absolutely no point to the discussion taking place about this on another thread, except to detract from the administration's efforts in the WOT which was surely the purpose of the originator of the thread.
No, I stopped looking for it. It bugs me the way Haaretz has headlines on the ticker that are not links to articles. It was a little over a week ago that Olmert and Bush met. SECSTATE Rice also met with Olmert a few days ago.
But, what does this refer to? A phone call? A letter? Who knows?
