Hundreds of thousands of Hezbollah supporters poured into downtown Beirut on Sunday, demanding the prime minister cede some power to the opposition or step down.
Holed up in his fortified office downtown, Prime Minister Fuad Siniora said he was open to dialogue between with the opposition, and acknowledged the political crisis was threatening Lebanon's security, economy and the entire political system.
“We don't want Lebanon to be an arena of the wars of others. Lebanon is a nation, not an arena,” he said in a veiled reference to Hezbollah's backers in Syria and Iran.
Political unrest has split the country along dangerous sectarian lines, with most Sunni Muslims supporting the U.S.-backed Sunni prime minister and Shiite Muslims backing the militant Hezbollah. Christian factions are split between the two camps.
Sunday's demonstration could be a tipping point in the political crisis, ten days after a coalition of largely pro-Syrian opposition groups launched a series of rallies against Mr. Siniora's anti-Syrian government.
“Let the government fall!” an organizer shouted through a loudspeaker, with the crowd roaring in approval. “Do you want blood or what?” he asked, addressing Mr. Siniora.

The bombing, the first armed attack on expatriates in years, took place in a heavily protected neighborhood that is home to some government ministers as well as the Sheraton Hotel, where several foreign firms have their offices. "I was in a bus when I heard a big explosion. Then we heard gunfire," Mohammed Aziouz, an 18-year-old student traveling in another bus nearby at the time, told Reuters. "A moment passed. And then police wearing 'ninja' balaclava hoods entered our bus and started checking identity papers. Those who didn't have them were taken out for verification. The military leaders of the Crusader coalition forces, realized the necessity of withdrawing from the bog they put themselves in 4 years ago, because of the stupidity and recklessness of their government, and after the US policy in Iraq reached a dead end, and after the Bush administration realized-Too late- the impossibility of achieving victory in Iraq, and impossibility of establishing a democratic state in Iraq serving as a model for the large Middle East led by Israel. After all these dreams vibrated -all praise and gratitude be to Allah, the politicians in the Crusaders coalition stopped talking about victory or defeat in war, but all their talk and their imagination now is about one and only demand, and that is: Not enabling the true Mujahedeen and Muslims from getting the fruits of this blessed jihad, and on that the recommendation of what is called "Baker-Hamilton committee" based, this committee tried to do the same as Sykes Picot agreement which was held around a century ago.
Sykes Picot agreement came to divide the Ottman Caliphate and the region to secular countries loyal to the Crusaders occupied countries and circling around them, but Baker-Hamilton's committee came to confirm this division, and to make sure that Muslims do not cross these borders (Sykes Picot borders) in their jihad. And sadly some Muslims, mainly their scholars raised on unfirm positions, they still dream in Sykes Picot's Iraq, secular national Iraq, but not the Islamic Iraq, from their views there is no Islamic Iraq which can be part from the large Islamic state, their ultimate goal is to attain a united Iraq or united Arab world!! But creating a Caliphate on Islamic land and working towards uniting Muslims from China to Spain does not cross their mind on the contrary they might reject it, because it opposes their national orientation which is adopted by some of Islamists without knowing it.
This deficiencies in thinking are not limited to public Muslims, but even among some groups raising the flag of jihad, and that's what the US administration counts on today. Before, the Crusaders colonialist countries succeeded in making "patriots and nationalists" taking the fruits of Islamic revolutions as in Lybia, and Algeria, when will the nation learn from those lessons? And when will it benefit from historic experiences? and that's why you see the US administration today-After they failed in counting on Safaids and some traitors from the tribes, and Sunnah claimers in the political process, after the failure of all those projects- We see it counting on people with limited views to fail any experience of Islamic state project following the steps of Caliphate. According to that, all our Mujahideen brothers should be aware of maneuvers and gimmicks, and not be up for grabs to the Crusader enemy. And they should not enable the climbers and opportunists from collecting their bless jihad fruits. The blood of martyrs is trust in the necks of Mujahideen...

Two ships returned to South Florida ports Sunday morning with passengers plagued with the norovirus, and a Royal Caribbean ship will not sail for two days after the Centers for Disease Control issued a ''no sail'' recommendation.
The CDC issued the recommendation -- a rare occurrence, according to a spokesman -- for the Freedom of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, when the ship returned to port sick for the third consecutive time.
The Freedom of the Seas docked Sunday with 99 passengers and 11 crew members on the 3,900-person boat sick with norovirus, which causes vomiting and diarrhea.
The ship was scheduled to depart the Port of Miami today for a seven-day Caribbean cruise. But plans have changed, and now it will leave on Tuesday for a modified five-night itinerary.
During the hiatus, the ship will be cleaned under the CDC's watch, officials said.
''This is an ongoing issue, and we hope that taking this action will settle the issue,'' said Curtis Allen, spokesman for the CDC.
Since Nov. 19, about 570 people on the ship have contracted the norovirus, which is similar to a 24-hour bug.
In recent weeks, several cruise ships have had serious bouts with the virus, catching the attention of the travel industry and health regulators.
Also on Sunday, the Sun Princess returned to Port Everglades after 119 cases of norovirus on the 2,875-passenger boat. The CDC did not issue a ''no sail'' recommendation, and the ship sailed again Sunday afternoon.

MI officer: Syria preparing its army for war with Israel

The head of the research division of Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Yossi Baidatz, said Sunday that Syrian President Bashar Assad is preparing for a war with Israel.
He said that Assad has ordered increased production of long-range missiles and instructed the Syrian army to position its anti-tank missiles closer to the Syrian border with Israel, on the Golan Heights.
But, Baidatz told the cabinet, while Assad is "preparing the Syrian army for the possibility of a military conflict with Israel, on the other hand, he is not ruling out the possibility of reaching a political settlement with Israel."
He stressed that in Assad's view, his actions on the military front do not contradict his actions in the political realm.
"Assad is working in two parallel tracks," Baidatz said. "On the one hand he is not ruling out a diplomatic solution with Israel and on the other hand he is preparing his forces for military conflict."

CHICAGO - The man accused of plotting to carry out a holiday grenade attack on shoppers at a Rockford mall was a Muslim convert whose growing interest in radical views worried his mother, according to a published report. "I don't believe that my son purposely has done anything wrong," Marie Dunn told the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald. "I believe he has gotten involved with the wrong people. ... I don't know who he's running with."
Dunn said she wasn't surprised when her 22-year-old son, Derrick Shareef, converted seven years ago, because his father was a member of the Nation of Islam. "He comes from a Muslim background," said Dunn, who described herself as Christian. A telephone listing for Dunn in Genoa was unlisted. But Dunn said she was shocked when she heard Friday that Shareef had been charged with trying to trade two stereo speakers for a 9 mm pistol and the four hand grenades authorities say he wanted set off in garbage cans at the CherryVale shopping mall in Rockford, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago. "I don't know what's going on," Dunn told the Rockford Register Star on Saturday. "The first time I heard about it was from a reporter."
Shareef didn't graduate from high school but earned his GED, Dunn said. He worked at a video game and electronics store in Rockford, where he moved two months ago after living "on and off" in Genoa with Dunn's husband and two other children, she said. FBI officials said the agency was tipped by an acquaintance of Shareef, after Shareef allegedly told the person he wanted to "commit acts of violent jihad," according to the affidavit. Authorities arrested Shareef Wednesday when he tried to make the trade with an undercover agent in a Rockford parking lot. Shareef was charged Friday with one count of attempting to damage or destroy a building by fire or explosion and one count of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, and was ordered held without bail.

Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip welcomed the report of the Iraq Study Group, presented by former US Secretary of State James Baker, which recognizes Islam as the “new giant of the world.”
“The report proves that this is the era of Islam and of jihad,” said Abu Ayman, a senior leader of Islamic Jihad from Jenin. Islamic Jihad has been responsible for every suicide bombing in the past two years.
Abu Abdullah, a leader of Hamas’ military wing, said Baker's report is a victory for Islam brought about by “Allah and his angels.”

There seem to be many murders in this country and some that are obviously for retribution by people of the Muslim faith. CAIR squeals loudly every time Islam is blamed for anything and they have about gotten the airlines not to "profile"....we can't let this happen. The (UTUBE posted by a freeper) on this thread, tells how stupid non-profiling is; Muslims are being trained to kill all over the world. We mustn’t let them intimidate with their in-your-face tactics any longer, nor should we excuse the ‘reporter’ for not mentioning when it is obvious, the killer is a Muslim. For starters, we can clean out the prisons - no inmate should expect his crimes to support his ‘religious’ beliefs or eating habits....that has got to go and with it the bleeding hearts and Human Rights people who are responsible for this.
