There are reasonably inexpensive currency readers readily available. They operate off of a 9V battery and are about the size of a cell phone.

And it would be cheaper to provide them free of charge to every blind person than it would be to change the money.

The goverment can just agree to provide the scanners for free to anyone who wants one. There would then be no reason to change anything.

Not to mention the option of using a bank card instead of cash. These people have options that give them much more freedom than the proposed solution of reworking the whole paper money system. I agree with Dr. Maurer, this is counter-productive.
