Dear Peggy has a problem with the President saying to Webb, "That's not what I asked you." What do you think?

I think she's reading something into the phrase that I didn't when I first read it. My interpretation was that Bush was making an attempt to be personable and more human with respect to Webb. But who knows, I'd have to hear the exchange to judge the vocal inflections.

It's useless without context and inflection.

The President could have been snarky and snippy, or he could have been compassionate when he said, "That isn't what I asked you". Just reading the text, it honestly sounds snippy to me in text. But, again, lack of context.

Very true. We would need to hear it to understand Bush's intent. However, I have a hard time believing that he was being confrontational, as Peggy seems to think.
