Offensive? Huh? I see nothing offensive about this sign.
People are always speeding through my neighborhood, despite all the kids playing in yards throughout.
To: craig_eddy
Mine too and I have made complaints to no avail.

(No autopsy, no foul.)

Maybe if the dog was on a leash it would still be alive.

People are weird. OK, so the guy that ran over her dog, feels bad after seeing the sign, comes knocks on her door and say "sorry lady it was an accident"
Now what? I don't get it.

It's too bad about the pup getting hit. It does happen sometimes when they run into the street though.
To: ShadowDancer
Do you think it could had been a magic bullet?
Maybe somebody put him in a lock box.
To: ShadowDancer
I don't see why people should find this sign offensive. I find it offensive that someone would run over the dog in front of the owner and not even stop.
That being said, I'm also offended by owners that don't restrain their dogs. If I had accidentally hit this dog because it ran out in front of me, I would have probably jumped out of my car and yelled at the owner for putting me in the position to needlessly kill the dog. And SHE probably would have been offended.
To: ShadowDancer
By her own admission she knew that cars sped by her house often, and despite that she did not have her puppy on a leash. I feel sorry for her but this is her own fault.
To: VA_Gentleman
Well, yeah. Not defending her actions re. the dog.
To: ShadowDancer
The sign won't stay up that long. Let the lady grieve (although I don't know that I could have gotten THAT attached to a pet in 5 months, it's none of my business). If you aren't a speeding driver, then the sign isn't directed to you; if you ARE a speeding driver, who cares if the sign bothers you-- SLOW DOWN!

People are always speeding through my neighborhood, despite all the kids... I'm on a "quiet" cul-de-sac. I had a neighbor a bunch of years ago who would drag race his dog down the street. This went on until one day...
He had a kid. No more speeding.
Of course, it took the chance of killing his own kid to slow down.... not the chance he'd kill some other family's kid... or pet (4 leg'ged kid).

She put up the sign because she's looking for someone to blame, when all she needs to do is look in the mirror.

If I had accidentally hit this dog because it ran out in front of me...That was my first thought as well, and if the person knew that they hit a dog they probably feel terrible about it if they have any decency.
To: ShadowDancer
The woman has the blood of the puppy on her hands.
she failed to control the dog that had no clue there was danger in the road.

...the walk to the mailbox might burn off some energy. Burn off the energy of a 5-month-old puppy? She was dreaming. Sad the dog was hit though.
