Give a certain amount of Iraqi Army armament back to the Sunnis, arm the Kurds to the teeth, give the finger to Al Sadr, shut down the airports, we move out of Baghdad to Anaconda and other easily air-covered LSAs, and tell the Sunnis that they can either fight Sadr to a draw within two weeks or eat dirt for a lifetime; and it's a one-time offer; with the warning that any Iraqi who gets within 50 clicks of our LSAs gets a free-fire air show, shortly followed by a fuel-air nasty.

The point being, the US could accomplish any number of useful outcomes under this scenario.
