ADRIENNE Shelly always wanted to be famous.

But not for this.

On a street in Greenwich Village where the indie-film actress and budding filmmaker once worked in obscurity, more than a dozen people came out last night wearing her picture around their necks.

Carrying candles and literature, speaking softly and intensely, they gathered on the street. In the evening's warmth, their numbers swelled.

In their 30s and 60s, they came from uptown and even New Jersey. All shared one thing in common - and it's a viewpoint I doubt they shared with Adrienne.

They were adamant that Adrienne would be making films today if the federal government would enforce the law - and kick out illegal immigrants.

"We don't think people should pass by this spot without acknowledging what happened here," said Joanna Marzullo, 33, the protester-in-chief.

"If our federal government enforced immigration law, Adrienne would be alive today," said Marzullo, president of New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement.

I just got done doing a report on this- WorldNetDaily has some absolutely shocking statistics on illegal criminals living in our country. 80,000 VIOLENT criminals are loose in the states, 93 sex offenders and 12 seriel sex offenders PER DAY are comming over the border, 46,727 Americans were either murdered or killed by illegal aliens since Sept 2001 etc etc etc. Yep- let's keep them borders open- such nice people come across. Illegals are doing more than their share of rapes, murders, robberies and drug dealing on a daily basis. Very illustrative Blog article. Some devastating statistics. What is probably happening is that criminals in Mexico that are fearing capture and prosecution naturally cross the border and escape into the US. Over here they can change their identity and more easily avoid detection and prosecution. Probably works the other way also. US born criminals attempt to escape prosecution by fleeing to Mexico. The main problem for us is that there are many more coming this way then are going that way. A Mexican criminal conducting his 'trade' in America should be called a terrorist, just as an American criminal conducting his 'trade' in Mexico should be called a terrorist. This is the main reason why we need comprehensive border enforcement. We have tens of thousands of terrorist already here and we do not know where they are or even who they are until they are caught committing terrorist acts.

From what I hear, Mexican jails themselves can be a sort of death sentence for some. If you are a criminal, why not practice your trade in the US where a convicted prisoner gets 3 meals, a clean cell, ACLU representation and an early release due to overcrowding.
