"Oops..I think I made the big FR error of not reading the article completely and concisely...I am more in agreement with the author than I thought."

Wait ... you mean that we are actually supposed to read the articles? Fully? As in to the end? Whoa.

;-)

Actually, there is a long and strong tradition around here of reading no further than the title, then posting your opinion thereof, then hijacking the thread to whatever other subject you haven't read anything about that day. In fact, one FReeper has a tagline to the effect that he/she has been posting without reading the article since 1999.

Anyway, I once apologized for hitting the post button before I proofread my response, and was almost laughed out of the thread.

It is my vote that we let you live ... this time.

Swearing on just about any book is probably fine. Except the Koran. That one has text that explicitly permits and enjoins lying to infidels. He would swear to uphold... on that? He is necessarily lying when he swears the oath on that book.

Swearing on the Koran will have as little meaning as those who have sworn on the Bible

Ignoring an oath sworn on the Bible is Hypocrisy, for sure. Ignoring an oath sworn on the Koran is, at least, not hypocrisy because the Koran permits lying to infidels and the Oath would be such a lie.

If a communist somehow were elected to Congress

We already have many communist in congress and state department. They don't mind swearing on the Bible since they don't believe in any god whatsoever.

Some people will not take an oath, or swear on anything. For those it is usually permissible to 'affirm,' which has the same force in law.

There was at least one statement from him (understandably muted and not trumpeted by the media, whose darling he is) that he is a Christian, but that his father, who left the family when he was two, is a Muslim.

This I believe, means he is considered an apostate, since, being born of a Muslim father and a mother who was 'of the Book'--in this case a Christian--he would be regarded as having been a Muslim

Allow me to swear on the Koran: "Get this damned thing outta here." There, it's done.

Perhaps another proper question would be:

Can a Muslim be a Good American Congressman????? (and/or Citizen)?????

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry (up to) four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt. Therefore even an attempt to take the oath of a US Congressman on something on a Quran is meaningless; just meaningless; the thought defies logic.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Spiritually - no. Because (in America) when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.

I wish I could give proper credit to the original writer of these questions. Sorry I can't.

He should swear on the Constitution. They all should. It's what they're swearing to uphold. It's the supreme law of the land.

Period.

Most of these bastards could just as well swear on a stack of comic book with the same (insignificant) effect.
