I'm amazed at the people that fly wearing flip-flops for shoes. Their feet would be cut to pieces if there was an emergency and we had to evacuate the plane.
How would the flip-flop wearers' feet be cut up? When evacuating the plane via the slide, you are supposed to take youre shoes off, aren't you?
Well, since the gestapo *has* to inspect your shoes, I think wearing flipflops expedites the process tremendously. And if anybody doesn't like it they can take it up with the gestapo.
My boss wears flip-flops when flying both for comfort and to ease travel through security lines. I stick with velcro or other easily-removed shoes. My boss is Gold Medallion on Delta, and I'm a high-mileage Silver, so you learn how to expedite your travel.
Oh, and First Class is nice and roomy. Delta has unlimited free upgrades for Medallion members. Unfortunately, the pecking order goes by mileage, and many domestic flights (especially from San Antonio) are on CRJs.
