Next, he's going to rule that radio stations are discriminating against deaf people, and they have to make "hearing impaired accessable radios" available for free to anyone who's deaf.

Judicial activists should be impeached. Period.

My father-in-law, a retired Marine with a spinal cord injury that rendered him almost unable to walk, steadfastly refused until the very day he died to either use a cane, or park in a handicapped parking place. Semper Fi, Pop.

They just don't make MEN like they used to!

Our Soldiers, along with their families, have it tough enough, without having to drive around waiting for a parking place. This PC handicapped stuff needs to end.

Some handicapped would benefit from a little walk, a little struggle. Maybe they would learn some pride in achievement. As it is, the handicapped will remain entirely dependent on others - the exact opposite of what the ADA wanted to achieve.

I wonder why this moron didn't make it illegal for the government to allow this man to be blind.

Is there a time-limit on how long I'm not allowed to respond?

actually, the Federal reserve would fit in with Hamilton's thinking

True but Hamilton sang a very different tune during the period of ratification (see the Federalist) than he did post-ratification...Hamilton knew the Constitution would never have been ratified had the state legislatures believed the Constitution delegated to the federal government the expansive powers he later argued for

Maybe the Bureau of Printing and Engraving should embed a microchip so that the Presidents and other famous people on money could fart a distinctive tune. Washington could be "Yankee Doodle," Lincoln "The Battle Hymn of the Republic,' Jackson "The Battle of New Orleans," and Grant, "Whiskey for my Men and Beer for My Horses."

I'm still working on Jefferson, Hamilton and Franklin.

Franklin, Weird Science.

It's probably the ADA that he thinks is being violated.

The bigger question...is what about the dead?

How are they to see, feel, smell, vote?

Er....well skip the vote part...they do that just fine.

No, I don't feel like butting out pal. Only a sicko would find a joke that like funny.

Here's a clue.. the blind can use debit/credit cards.

Problem solved.

Here's a question.. how do the blind shop? I haven't noticed any register spitting out totals in braille. Should we make all of society illegal because being blind is harder than not being blind?

Should the NFL be found illegal because one legged people aren't allowed to play?

I don't get it.

Thank you for your response. You're quite right that a sudden, unexpected deflation can have the nasty consequences you mentioned; however, a predictable, steady deflation of a few percentage points per year is something businesses can prepare for and it can be factored into interest rates.

The stock of extracted gold has been growing at a steady rate of around 2% annually. Suppose the economy grows at 4% per year; this leaves us with a deflation rate of 2%. This means if a bank wants to achieve a real interest rate of 5%, it should ask for a nominal rate of 3%. Simple enough, isn't it?

Predictability is actually a great benefit that the gold standard has and a Fed-determined money supply doesn't have. The Fed has the power to inflate or deflate the dollar by any amount it pleases--even 50%, if they get very evil! Such dramatic and unforeseeable swings are impossible under the gold standard, since it is based on a physical good and on the forces of supply and demand, rather than on the decisions of a single man.

I'd much rather have a steady deflation of 2% than give such power to any one person!

This is a complicated issue, and it certainly appears to be a wrongheaded decision on the part of this judge, although the issue deserves further debate.

As for this...

>Some handicapped would benefit from a little walk, a little struggle. Maybe they would learn some pride in achievement.

Classy post. If you believe that, good for you. Some of us do NOT benefit from such things, and you don't get to define what constitutes achievement for the blind or otherwise handicapped. With all due respect to the Marine referenced in the post you were responding to, in my experience, there is reason to be grateful for handicapped parking spaces, even if other aspects of the ADA are poorly designed & have clearly been twisted & abused.

Thanks so much for your compassion and understanding. Have a great day.

My words were "some" of them. And yes, SOME of them could use a little walk. I never said there should be no handicapped spaces either. I said there are TOO MANY of them. They are never full.

Retooling the system to create money for the blind is costly. In this age of debit cards and such, it is also unnecessary.

Having braille on money, resizing money, would not prevent real thieves from committing fraud against the blind. A taxi driver can charge the $5.00 on the meter or he can charge $5.50. The only difference braille or other changes on money would do, is make sure the blind pay the exact amount of the fraud.

Also. There is no need to get nasty with me. Real Classy, you are.
