Waiting for Joel Olstein to be the next "peace" ambassodor to go over there. Perhaps he'll go to Iran?

PDL isn't theologically solid anyway, but is full of errors...it is better to toss it in the trash.

I found it most amusing how the PDL opened with "it's not about you" and then the rest of the book went on about me.

Exactly.

My MIL bought us a copy of the book two years ago, and I never could muster up enough interest to read it. And something about Rick Warren, himself, really left me with a bad taste in my mouth, so-to-speak.

Now I know why. The Holy Spirit was telling me not to waste my time. I am so grateful.

To Suzy Quzy,

It's the Billy Graham syndrome: to be a Great American Evangelist is to be a presence on the world stage, to bring the "Gospel" to places no ordinary mortal can reach.

Beyond that, in the post-Billy era, when the "Best Evangelicals" can actually become pets of the Truely Beautiful People instead of mere Chaplains to Presidents, it also means to elevate the Great Unwashed of Evangelicaldom beyond their benighted Religious Right politics into a sunnier, more enlightened, more Moderate and by-the-movers-and-shakers-applauded Candidian bonhommie. When one has written a bestseller, become fabulously wealthy and thus becomes a mover-and-shaker in one's own right, one meets all sorts of other movers-and-shakers who quickly set one to rights about how one can never be a true mover-and-shaker unless one moves to the center in the name of love and peace to all men of good will (which means all men--even Bashir Assad--except Religious Rightmen).

Warren, the pastor of Saddleback Church and the author of the best-selling "The Purpose-Driven Life," told WND when the comment first was reported that he had been misquoted, and further, he wasn't a diplomat and probably wasn't fully prepared for a situation in which he was used for propaganda.

But a video posted on YouTube showed Warren making the statement, and when WND linked to it, it suddenly disappeared.

Sounds like he got caught lying.

He's such a sleaze and his father, founder of eHarmony.com, is an even worse huckster. They make my skin crawl.

Anyone remember Jesus? His rules were few. Faith, hope, and love. And no money changing in the temple. Period. How can these big-money pastors appeal to so many?
