8 ex-guards charged with manslaughter in boot camp death
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) Eight former juvenile boot camp guards have been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of a teenage boy, who was roughed up by the guards during a videotaped altercation, a special prosecutor said Tuesday.
The announcement comes almost 11 months after Martin Lee Anderson collapsed on the exercise yard at the Bay County sheriffs boot camp in Panama City on Jan. 5. Guards said he was uncooperative and refused to continue participating in exercises that were part of the boot camps intake processes.
He died early the next morning in Pensacola.

The charge should be murder.
We're gonna train the lad.....
"What We Have Here is a Failure to Communicate"
What they did to Martin Anderson involved considerable violence. When violence is involved, the appropriate charge is MURDER.
Florida is a police state. It's only going to get worse.
Maybe so, but I've heard the worst stories of random crime from Florida. I-95 acts as a funnel for drifters and fugitives, plus the legendary drug trade along the coastline makes it a dangerous place in general.
The folks I know there all have closed circuit cameras and the strongest security in their homes, and that's within suburban areas... A police state isn't good, but they have to be badass against criminals.
"Florida is a police state. It's only going to get worse."
I'm waiting for the inevitable "he deserved it, he was defying authority" post.
