Oh, those kids are having a blast with the snow! This is the most they've had for a while, and it stayed. Heaven.

Just heard on TV that with the new snow on the way, plus the mess it's created already, there will be school closures and the freeways are a parking lot.

There was one storm we had, I think it was in 1979 or 1980, when so many inches of snow fell in such a short time that people had to abandon their cars on the Interstates and walk. It was very dangerous. The stupid thing is that the Puget Sound cities won't invest in enough quality snowplowing equipment or get the plows and sand / salt out soon enough. They act like it's not going to happen again ... If they would face the situation the way the Midwesterners do, things wouldn't have to shut down so much when it snows here.

The other thing that makes it tricky here is that our snow tends to be very wet, and therefore, very heavy, snapping tree branches and causing power failures if it gets bad enough. Also makes it a real bear when night falls and it goes below freezing after the snow melted on the roads.

Hoping for a better outcome this time though.

This was last night after four inches had fallen. It is beautiful. snugs has seen this already.
