THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED OR REASON TO ASK CHARLEY TO SAY HE IS SORRY. To actually be "sorry" and "apologize" for what he said, he actually would need or should actually MEAN that he was sorry and was apologizing for that reason. NOT BECAUSE pressure was put on him. HE IS NOT SORRY HE SAID IT. HE MEANT IT. HE IS PROUD HE SAID IT. THUS, no way the apology would mean a damned thing to me.
So, to Charley, drop dead. Oh, wait, I am sorry.

I thank you for your kind words. We share in common a love for our country, and a willingness to stand in the face of evil. I'd be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you anytime.

Just talked to a buddy of mine who has a son that will graduate from The Citadel this spring. The son was not a "contract student" (his dad paid the entire tuition) so he has no obligation to the military. The son was unsure what he wanted to do after graduation, but just this week, he had decided ... he will enter the US Army after graduation with the intention of completing his OCS and then entering Ranger school, which will virtually grantee him combat duty.
This is a kid from a well-to-do (albeit self-made) family who had the grades and financial support out of high school to go to nearly any college he wanted, and he chose The Citadel, and loved it there. And after four years of being exposed to military discipline, and understanding even at a distance, what the military is all about, and earning a very tough degree that would pay off him well in many civilian occupations, he has made a voluntary decision, to enlist in the Army. God bless this young man.
BTW. Charlie Rangal and John French Kerry can eat my shorts.

"According to Rangel, "If a young fellow has an option of having a decent career, or joining the Army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq. If there's anyone who believes these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No bright young individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of some educational benefits," Rangel said."
Well, Mr Rangel, imagine if one day those young fellows decide protecting your sorry a** isn't worth the time......
To: SoldierDad
Raspy Rangel is a traitor.......to our armed forces and to common decency!
To: Sub-Driver

Where is anyone on this? I have not heard any politician - outgoing or ingoing - say a word. You'd think Rahm Emanuel or some other cold-blooded strategist would at least figure out that democrats need to be falling all over themselves to distance themselves from this before the republicans get a clue and realize this is now a democrat issue. Not the individual loudmouth morons Rangel and Kerry: the party.
Once is a snafu. Twice is policy.

Since the so-called victims of Richards' insults want an apology and money, Rangel should pony up!

Thanks for the stats! It's really amazing when you take the stats for your city or state. In 2004 (if I remember right) there were 2,000 unclaimed bodies in Los Angeles County, California. I think it was for the county and not the city. And this was for just one year.
One better, is breaking out the number of those killed in Iraq that died in accidents, not hostile fire.

I will probably take a beating for saying this, but I believe the Congressman has a right to believe whatever he wants, right or wrong. I would fight for his right to be wrong.
