"You may not believe the tin star, but what if someone flashed this one at you on a darkened street?"

Those examples that you provided are more realistic, but still would be obvious fakes at close range in the daylight.   I concede, however, that in the dark at a distance of more than a few feet, any fake could look realistic enough to fool someone.

I just couldn't resist ribbing the previous poster because his example was so obvious.  But, in the dark at distance, who knows?

Don't know if they were from police weapons. But just for giggles I 'searched' my POV for fired casings. Came up with three .45s and one 9mm. And I haven't been to the range in a while. Guess they fell out of my range bag when I put them in the truck. I generally go through a couple thousand rounds on any given day on the range.

Ricochets are generally actual bullets, as opposed to fired brass.

And lastly, it is accepted practice that one makes sure of ones backstop when putting live rounds downrange. It is the citizens responsibility to make sure that his/her bullets don't hit innocent bystanders when firing at a 'bad' guy. You are responsible for where your bullets go. If you are irresponsible when you put rounds off target, you are responsible criminally and civilly for the result.

So tell me why a police officer should be any different? If I shoot at an armed criminal in the commission of a felony, I will be held responsible if I shoot an unconnected person. Always make sure of your target, and nothing bad can ensue. But if you miss such a LARGE target, then you are spraying and praying.

Shouldn't that be "The Ghost of Johnnie Cochran"? (Or at least, "The Ghost of Jackie Chiles"?)

Your honor, my learned colleague is correct!

If the summations fit,
I must admit.

Please leave the country now. Your brain fart has made you incapable of rational thought. We cannot allow you to co-exist with us in this society. I suggest you flee to a strip club in Queeens until 4 am. Then make your run for it!

Not infrequently???? List'em hotshot. Every stinkin' one you've intimiated. Typical lib argument by throwing out a fact that is not supported or documented. So, let's see your list bigshot!

Also, it's polite on FR to ping someone when you talk about them to someone else. But I guess mouth-breathers like you have a problem with that.

But he wasn't armed!!!! Even though he tried to run down an officer that was showing his badge.

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

sounds like he was armed with a 2000 pound vehicle and attempting murder.

Traffic stops need to be done by UNIFORMED cops dressed like policemen with their cap and uniform visible to the driver.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

This wasn't a traffic stop. It was an undercover operation and an attempted getaway by the suspects.

>>>No matter how obvious you think it is, MANY will not recognize it.>>>

I'm learning that. I haven't been posting long, but learning. But I'm also learning alot of Freepers go to the tactic of calling someone with opposing views stupid. How sad.

Not infrequently, the cops accuse anyone of fleeing in a car to be trying to assault them.
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Fleeing in a car is resisting arrest and puts us all in danger. When you resist arrest you takes your chances. Which is the height of stupidity because everybody gets off in America, so its just better to cooperate until you get to call the lawyer. And yes that's what goes down in the ghetto too.

I didn't say it was smart - just that it happens that way. And, by the way, resisting arrest is not a capital offense.

And to the other poster who thinks I am making this up: I saw it on a Cops-like tv show. Guy tries to drive around the cops and they shoot up a residential neighborhood in response.

It seems like the whole incident resulted from confusion and panic on both sides. The driver probably did not realize the undercover cops were cops and thought he was being attacked. The cops thought they were being attacked.

Police tend to make up stories to justify there actions, so I would not believe everything they said about showing badges etc.

This whole business of having the undercover cops hanging around strip clubs to try to bust them for alcohol and prostitution violations seems a little questionable in the first place. Undercover police need to be aware that people may not realize they are police and be more careful in their actions.

I think the police screwed up here, but I don't think it was deliberate, and certainly not racially motivated.

The issue here is that the article was poorly written - the meat of the story, i.e. the facts were in the third paragraph. Again the MSM is trying to direct the will of the American people by faulty reporting.

1) First question - did the reporters read the police report once it was released?

2) Did Bloomberg read the report before he commented to the black public and the press? - Most likely a resounding no, his effort was to grab the headlines.

3) With Sharpton involved, does the public realize the fact he has done this before? - Remember Tawana Brawly?

4) Does this mean what it usually means? Yes, the MSM is the fifth column, and they are an enemy of the state. this could potentially blossom into a full fledged race riot, and those individuals who raised the red flag over this need to be held accountable if such a thing were to get out of hand. Sharpton should be jailed for his claims, bloomberg needs to be recalled or impeached for what he has done.

Final point - Sharpton is an instigator, and is facilitating the left's desire to separate this nation using race as a bias point. They want a civil war. If they have a civil war, and they are in power they CAN negate the constitution.

I believe there is a gal that was just convicted for running over her husband several times resulting in his death. I would consider a car coming directly and purposely at one a weapon.
