I wish someone would tell me, if this war is SO important, and I believe it is, why the constant pussy-footing around? It's becoming apparent we are not in this thing to win. Wea re too PC a country to win any more wars. We can win the hell out of some battles but our days of winning wars are pretty much over, IMO, stricly because of PC politics concerned more with image than substance.
An absurd assumption that gets tossed around very cavalierly. Sunni extremists are not restrained in Iraq like flies in flypaper. While AQI is a powerful terrorist group, most of al-Qa'ida is still outside of Iraq.
The only thing that's holding terrorists out of the United States is better intelligence collection and cooperation between our various defense and law enforcement agencies, and those of other countries. The Patriot Act and the Terrorist Surveillance Program are 100x more valuable to counterterrorism efforts than occupying Iraq. This summer's foiled airliner attack (remember that?) was by Pakistani extremists who've never set foot in Iraq.
Do you really believe that our being in Iraq is keeping the Islamofascist from coming here? Hell man, they're already here, by the thousands. Just look what 19 men did on 9/11.
With our troops in Iraq, the southern border open, these murderous Muslims can operate at will "behind the lines". We'd be a lot safer with those 150,000 troops on our borders than being in Iraq!!!

There's another reason it's not Vietnam, we were very lucky that (Soviet) Communism managed to collapse on its own. We won't have any such luck with Islam.
