Peters doesn't get it. 80 year olds don't fight wars, young people do. If there are more Muslims under 20 than Europeans, the Muslims win.

Exactly, although he may get it but just think this is a good thing since it matches his the European is the source of all evil theory. I wonder if like the Nation of Islam he also thinks the European was produced by a mad scientist in a lab?

Demographics is mathematics. When the birthrate for "postchristian" European women is 1.1 to 1.5 they aren't having enough babies to keep the "postchristian" population steady. Then they allow immigration of moslems, whose birthrate is 4.0 or higher, to continue to immigrate into their countries it becomes a mathematical exercise, with accurate info you should be able to figure the tipping point when moslems will become a majority in your country.

And even if they stopped immigration and expelled all the moslems, the birthrate still means they aren't having enough children to maintain their population. Eventually they will be so few the Moslens would be able to just walk in and take over semi-deserted countries.

It's already happening. Why didn't the French declare martial law during the riots last year and use the Army to restore order? Because they already have too many moslems serving in the French Army and can't rely on it to obey orders is one theory. If the can't rely on their Army who's going to protect them as the moslems grow in power?

There are only five things that can break the trend of rising moslems and declining postchristians.

1) Increase in the postchristian birthrate. What's going to cause that?

2) Decrease in the moslem birthrate.

3) Stopping moslem immigration.

4) Mass moslem emigration to somewhere else.

5) Mass moslem apostasy, renunciation of Moslem culture and adoption of postchristian culture.

See any evidence that any of these things is happening? I sure don't.

Pretty soon moslems are going to demand power. It's just a matter of time, and they have the population trends to back them up.

One of the mistakes most of us make is that we pick out one problem and offer one solution as a cure all.
Europe has a lot of problems , one of them being a self destructive demographic.They have become too lazy to breed. Soon they will not be able to pay the promised Government pensions, Health care, Unemployment compensation or even their beloved social welfare programs.
I foresee an uprising that could lead to civil unrest (WAR?)
The other side is a squaring off against the mooselimbs. Don't know yet which will come first. Don't forget about the "Brain drain" which has already begun.
Germany, for example is mostly inhabitedby Germberlains who stick their collective heads in the sand, forgetting that their asses make viable targets. etc. etc.

Although I enjoyed the author's sarcastic form of optimism, he based his entire piece on only one weak argument: Europe's tendency to occasionally engage in racial atrocities. Cultural explanations are seldom predictive, and culture will be irrelevant unless Europeans start having children at the replacement rate. Demographics will trump bigotry in the end.

I hope and pray that you are right. I shudder to think of all the history, art, music, culture, architecture that would be lost should islam become the majority in Europe. I fear, however, that many Europeans are immigrating and leaving rather than fighting for their countries. Regardless whether or not Europe is friendly to us, I want to see Western Civilization preserved.

Peters is whistling past the graveyard.

The European elites and governments are promoting multiculturalism and Political Correctness with the force of law and this phenomenon only continues more strongly. The water gets hotter and the frogs still sit in it. European attitudes today are not those of even 60 years ago, much less that of 300 years ago.

There is plenty of evidence daily to see the malignant side of Islam on full display, yet there is no reaction except submissiveness on the part of the governments and more submissiveness on the part of the native populations. The few native Europeans who truly stand up to the Umma can be found in hiding, under police protection or in jail.

I think the author mistakes the "Europeans" from the past with the Europeans of today.

The culture and the mindset are not only generations apart the gap is as deep and distant as the years between the two eras are long.

The period the author focuses on, following 1492, saw the world convulsed with European colonialism, slavery and European mercantilism. And, in the closing two centuries of that era, Europe was convulsed in internal wars within it as well as continuing wars of conquest. The "Europeans" that made that era are long gone.

Europe cannot reverse a demographic catastrophe simply by deciding that it needs to have 30 million young European men and women tomorrow. Europe must grow those young men and women. What Europe doesn't have today isn't available to give Europe a start on what it need 20 years from now. And what it don't have 20 years from now dooms the generation 20 years farther down the line.

Europe is in the terrifying position of having to figure out how to win a multigenerational cultural marathon when it has already given Islam a 20 mile head start.

I'm not so sure Peters is right about Europe or about the demographics. But "Eurabia" and "dhimmi" tend to get thrown around to bludgeon people into agreement with some dubious notions. It's good that Peters is willing to question that rhetoric.
