This is basically what I am saying; by doing this you appear more moderate than you are and I suspect up to a certain point this is what we are seeing in Britain.
One needs to go with what is the current fad or cause and show you will co-operate with it and how you basic conservative philosophies concur with it such as environmental and social issues. As I said look at his Shadow Cabinet they are not all moderates.
The MSM is still powerful and swing voters and moderates are where elections are won and lost and we have to pay notice and prune our message accordingly because the media will be bombarding them with their views and also stating what in their opinion the man in the street wants. We have to show we can accommodate the man in the streets views because these are shaped so often by what the media is reporting.
Once you are in power that is a different thing and that is where you show you have not lost your basic principles in pursuing the policies you were elected to follow and the Members of your party supported you to follow by fund raising and volunteer work. You have to pursue these issues in a conservative or right wing way this is where the Republican Members of Congress let their electorate down and they let both the right and left leaning ones down because they thought of themselves and lining their own pockets and not the people who elected them.
This is just my opinion :o).
Lott would have to grow a mullet for me to believe he's "liberated".
Thank you, Snugs
No problem just a pesky way I have to go to actually get the graphic into photobucket for a single image it takes longer if you were doing several it is quicker.
Yes but it was made public during "W's" term in office. It will be remembered
from his years. Much like the welfare reform during the Clinton years,
never mind he vetoed the thing, what twice? It is still mentioned as
"Clintons Welfare Reform Act", not the "Republican sponsered Reform Act".
How true
Well you know, my friend, all this is true, but there's one other thing: The Drive By Media.
While we all heard about Steven's Alaskan Bridge because of all the faux outrage and handwringing by the DBM, I wonder how many folks know about the master of pork, Senator Robert Byrd, (D-WV)???? The DBM made sure people knew that Stevens was a REPUBLICAN, in a REPUBLICAN-controlled Senate, and did they forget to mention he is a REPUBLICAN? Byrd, on the other hand, is a crafty dealer for the poor of West By God Virginia that ensures he brings home some jobs to his constituents, like any good democrat would do. And his Klan days never get mentioned, even when he rails against "white niggers" (Byrd's words, not mine, in an interview with Tony Snow for the Fox News Sunday show, March 4th, 2001). Anyway, the masters of pork have always been the dems, but the DBM sure doesn't let folks know about that!
Every political situation in this country gets filtered through the lens of the DBM. I used to be against term limits, thinking that the voters themselves were the ultimate term limiters. But with an out of control DBM, amybe term limits are the answer.
I do, however, agree that Republicans simply can't eat at the same trough. Because they've attacked pork spending to get elected, they become hypocrites if they then start porking for themselves.
So I guess that Little Wallace has just given up having any Conservtives on the show?
Fundamentally the left believes that we are the enemy and that anyone who wants to join our armed forces to fight against the enemies of the United States are, by definition, enemy forces to be denigrated and, if possible, defeated. For someone to say "I believe that my attitude, talents and skills are valuable in the fight against our enemies. I believe that I should be part of this fight because I am good at what needs to be done" set's that person up as an enemy of all the left holds dear.
Lott's idea of 'liberated'... would be wearing a speedo.
As you laid out so eloquently right after the election, correcting the deficiencies of the DBM is our job now. We watch the watchers.
After all, we are the Jedi Council! <g>
I'm Not familiar with that thread either.
Nice turn of phrase. Consider it stolen.
Not quite. The last US combat troops left Vietnam in Jan 2003. The South Vietnmaese fought on for almost another 18 months until Congress cut off funds to the South and the North Vietnamese violated the Paris Peace Treaty agreement and invaded in huge numbers.
The war was not over for the hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese who were murdered when the North took over, nor for the millions more who were sent into reeducation camps, or the millions who became boat people and refugees. It is still not over for those in the South who have lived under a repressive Communist government for over 30 years. It was not over for the millions more murdered in Cambodia and Laos after the South fell. This is not the kind of legacy we want to leave in Iraq and the region.
Brilliant idea.
