Oh well the NYTimes should know the status of financial in Iraq, considering it was them who alerted the world in how NOT to get caught funding terrorism.
Thank you NYTimes you have made yourselves one of them.

So what? I guess I fail to see the point of this story. Talk about a DUH! story.

The point is that insurgents have won, time to pack up and come home will be the followup news.
The NYTimes are patting themselves on the back for calling this one.

Maybe it means what we see in Iraq today, we will still see in Iraq in 10 years, only the body count will be different.
To: MNJohnnie
It means they no longer need outside help from al Qaeda, they've got everything they need to keep us busy there and perhaps even make a profit while they're at it.

Yeah, no point a'tall unless you consider that we are losing hundreds of billions (along with the war) while the enemy banks a profit!
What was the name again of the knight in Monty Python who lost a limb with every blow and still claimed they were only flesh wounds?

Is Iraq any closer to peace now than it was when saddams statue was toppled? Or has the violence gotten worse since then?
To: nathanbedford
Oh please don't waste my time. You have not learned a single thing about Iraq since 2002. Probably you were saying the exact same things in 1991. Clinging feverishly to an emotion based opinion on Iraq and obstinately refusing to learn a single fact that does not validate your preconceived opinions is not the act of a ration mind..
It is hardly the work of an intelligent rational adult mind to spend all the time hyperventilating about the 20-30,000 militants and refusing to even consider the other 24,970,000 Iraqis.

Yeah, no point a'tall unless you consider that we are losing hundreds of billions (along with the war) while the enemy banks a profit! Excuse me, but how on earth can you make a profit from blowing up people? (Unless you're paid to, but what the article is claiming is precisely that this is not the case.)

You didn't answer my question. Has Iraq been pacified?
Those idiots were given their freedom by our blood and treasure. The former, too valuable a cost for what appears to be ingrates.
To: woofie
You're right to a certain point, has L.A. set off any IED's yet?
